The thrilling Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be the first game to take full advantage of NVIDIA DLSS as confirmed via a new episode of Digital Foundry Direct. The team received confirmation from CD Projekt Red who told the publication that they are utilising the technology which will boost the game’s resolution. CD Projekt Red also confirmed that there will be four modes in handheld and docked modes.
“We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores. The game utilizes DLSS in all four modes in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.”

It remains to be seen which version because there are significant differences between the dlss 3, 3.5 and 4…even if I doubt that it is the last one that Nvidia and Nintendo have chosen
I think Switch 2 is using Ampere. Blackwell is the only RTX architecture officially supporting DLSS 4, so Switch 2 will likely be capped at DLSS 3.5-3.7, unless NVIDIA implements a different solution for Switch compared to PC.
It’s also difficult to determine which DLSS version would be best for a low-powered device like Switch 2, and what differences, if any, there will be between Switch DLSS and PC DLSS.
We’re not missing out on much with DLSS 4 anyway, as its main selling point is the 3-4x Frame Generation. You can use the Transformer Model with DLSS 3.5(and is not exclusive to DLSS 4), which in most cases provides a better image, but it does impact performance slightly.
We’ll have to wait and see what they offer for Switch 2. It’s likely that 3d high-fidelity games aiming for 120fps won’t be able to fully utilize the newest DLSS features anyway, since battery-powered devices operate differently than desktop GPUs.
I don’t understand most of what you said (I’ve been trying to research more tech stuff) but very much appreciate your comprehensive comment here.
Thank you! I tried to keep my comment clear without going off on too many tangents. The most important tip I can give is to look for the proof in the pudding. Hardware and games don’t always scale or perform as expected, so reading benchmark results—or better yet, seeing the performance for yourself—is, in my opinion, the best approach!
Absolutely nothing prevents Nvidia from modernizing old chips, they have already done it in the past then, as my husband told me, the dlss 4 is not yet well exploited and does not bring much, nothing like a console to promote it
But we think the same, we think that it’s the RTX 30 and 40 technologies that are in the new switch the RTX 50 seem too recent but we can expect everything
By the way, nothing prevents it from being used on portable hardware, I doubt very much that Nvidia does not plan RTX 50 cards for laptops.
Oups, missed this comment 😂 You’ll see me reply longer down here!
Never mind, it got removed. @Sickr, was there anything in my comment that needed changing?
I can’t see your comment in the spam system and it isn’t showing on our end. Not sure what happened.
Oh man, big sadge, I’m not native speaking English, so long replies are a pain to type, even more so losing them to the aether xD
Thank you for looking for it though! Much appreciated.
It’s WordPress I’m assuming. It happened to me as well before.
@Sickr, please say you got it this time D:
I’m sorry my man. I have checked and can’t see it 😟
I’ve sent an email, if you’re able to get this comment. Seems like I’m on a spam-list now xD
I’m thinking 3.5.
Based on what the raw footage has been analyzed by tech channels, its using the older CNN model and is a custom ver of DLSS. Since its not upscaling fog/smoke effects own resolution; Those are being completely ignored.
That’s all good, but yet they haven’t added a NG+ feature. CDPR also confirmed a NG+ feature … That we never got.
I have a 5 year old Laptop with a rtx2060 that runs at 1440p DLSS Quality at 60fps the game with a bunch of stuff in medium- high and is one of the best looking games that i always had (35 Years old btw) Im sure that the Switch 2 will be on the same ballpark with better tech. For a portable, is a complete beast.
That’s very good to know. At least now some third party games will have DLSS feature for the system.
I wonder if this game and the Switch 2 also support RTX.
Nevermind, the official Nvidia post says the NS2 supports ray tracing: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/nintendo-switch-2-leveled-up-with-nvidia-ai-powered-dlss-and-4k-gaming/#:~:text=The%20Nintendo%20Switch%202%2C%20unveiled%20April%202%2C%20takes,Tensor%20Cores%20for%20stunning%20visuals%20and%20AI-driven%20enhancements.
