Bloomberg has published a report which states that Nintendo is setting wholesale prices in Japan so retailers can earn more from each sale of the Nintendo Switch 2 in an effort to ramp up console sales. Nintendo has now responded to said report and has stated that it is simply not true. The publication states that retailers can make a gross margin of around 5% on each Nintendo Switch 2 console sold which is much higher than the informal industry standard of roughly 2%. Nintendo categorically denies this as seen in the X post below.
Nintendo says recent Bloomberg report is untrue

Ah Bloomberg and his “articles” just to get clicks….
Interesting to see how this plays out.
We know Nintendo is taking a different approach to the Japanese market at launch.
Let me guess, Jason Schreier?
No. Takashi Mochizuki.
Which means it’s entirely true
I’ll pray for you 🙏
Well, it would probably be accurate if it was, but it wasn’t him.
Their “evidence” that it isn’t true is that they didn’t say it.
This is what happens when you allow morons to start stupid trends like drop the price; ignorant people make up false claims and then someone else put there wants to add more fuel to the fire and you get things like Bloomberg, myths of ownership, every game is $90, etc etc.
Nothing about the Switch 2, how it operates, game pricing, ownership, etc is ANY different than any other console in the history of gaming.
Journalists are partly to blame, because they never correct the ignorant casuals who spread misinformation.
Except if you weren’t a fan boy you’d see that this is more than likely 100% true. 2 other consoles have much better hardware yet are dang near priced identical to nintendo. Nintendo also stated they raising the prices of some games, such as the ones they know people will buy, cause it “brings you enjoyment and we know you’ll pay top dollar” so the odds of nintendo milking everyone with the switch 2 are about 100%
saying this doesn’t make it true lol
