A leak appeared earlier this week stating that both SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to be in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and now we have actual footage of SpongeBob taking part in a race. The footage shown down below is from an early build and shows SpongeBob using the Extreme Gear and performing multiple tricks while drifting past the other competitors. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds still doesn’t have a firm release date, but we expect that to change after Summer Game Fest.

Right, because when I think of modern Sonic, I think of modern SpongeBob at Jellyfish Fields.
I think this new story is completely and utterly fake and is completely and utterly embarrassing for someone trying to get attention we all know there’s a difference between Nickelodeon games and Sega games.

People DID complain about that. Especially considering it was marketed as a crossover of SEGA characters, not random marketing figures.

I was about to remark on people being ridiculous getting so annoyed at this, then I considered what if Spongebob were in Mario Kart World? I would think that actually cheapened the game quite a lot (having crossover from other Nintendo characters in MK8D was fine, but literally putting Spongebob there would be very weird). So yeah, I guess I can see that perspective. It doesn’t initially occur to me because I already think the Sonic brand has been incredibly compromised anyway, so this just seems in accordance with the expected, but not everyone sees it this way!

Looks like it’s still in the mid alpha stage as Sonic’s profile pic is still there when they play as Spongebob.
I feel like this is early footage of Spongebob in the game, so I’m not going to be too hasty in saying it’s fake, just something I noticed on the MIni Map
