Nintendo is apparently looking into reports of expanded Switch 2 back panels

As with any new video game hardware launch, reports surface fairly quickly online of any faults or deficiencies online The latest is reports of Nintendo Switch 2 console swelling which is caused by the lithium-ion batteries. This issue can happen to all types of products that have lithium-ion batteries, such as laptops etc. The swellings in this case can cause the Nintendo Switch 2 back panels to expand. If this has happened to your unit you will need to contact Nintendo as a swollen battery pack could become a potential fire hazard, so be sure to reach out the customer service. Nintendo is apparently looking into the issue.

    1. li-ion always has a certain failure percentage, even when everything is made correctly. you’ll get a certain small percentage of packs turning pillow no matter what, can be widespread due to a design flaw or defect, but I’ve yet to see widespread reports beyond it happening to a couple dozen, which is expected for over 10 million units. You can’t catch everything in QA.

    1. It’s not about how often it’s used. There is a certain failure rate that is expected even when everything goes right. This is incredibly small amount of affected vs most devices like iphones and androids.

  1. Didn’t happen to me and I’ve kept my switch on a lot and if not at home when I’m out I’m playing in handheld mode make sure to use what Nintendo provided to charge and power with and that’s the reason the official switch 2 dock has a fan it to keep the extra electricity cooler that the. switch 2 pushes out while in dock mode so if you use a 3rd party dock you’re asking for a melt down so wait a little while longer before you decide to buy dock at least until they have a built in fan always be careful with any product even if they say it fits the switch 2 doesn’t mean they are telling the truth so all do you’re research it can save you hundreds of dollars because sadly nothing comes cheap now days and if it dose then you get what you pay for beware of false advertising because if it sounds to good to be true then it most likely will not be true I hope this helps

    1. Where did you see anyone mention the use of an aftermarket dock? This notion that Nintendo is infallible, and doesn’t ship defects, implies you’ve not been a Nintendo customer very long.

  2. So under a normal licence agreement – ‘not a purchase where you own the product’ – then shouldn’t all costs to repair flow back to the company who is providing the licence.
