Capcom: Mega Man is still “one of our most important IPs”

mega man x dive

We haven’t seen a new game in the acclaimed Mega Man series for quite some time however Capcom says that it still views the franchise as one of its most important IPs. The company informed investors that they are continuously looking at ways to develop the Mega Man series further and presumably once they get a new formulae nailed down they won’t hesitate to release a new entry. Capcom also stated to investors that they are looking to expand the Mega Man merchandise business further than it has ever been before.

Please tell me about your plans for the Mega Man series.

The Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further. However, we do not have any additional information we can share at this time.

What are your expectations regarding revenue contributions of merchandise sales from the Mega Man series?

While we do not disclose individual sales figures by IP, we receive a particularly high volume of inquiries about the Mega Man series from overseas markets. We will continue to focus on expanding this business further.

    1. Wrong on both accounts. Mega Man X Dive was a great game. It updated just about every month, and it had characters from every single mainline series. And although Mega Man 11 offered too little, at least it was 2.5D, Mega Man was voiced by a man (in English), and they were more creative with the weapons than mere palette swaps.

As for the post itself, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard that one. Capcom claims they still care about Mega Man, but actions speak louder than words. We’ve already told them ways to develop the franchise, they just need to get off their cisphobic butts and give us what we want. Nobody cares about Resident Evil. “But Resident Evil sells well.” Of course it does, because Capcom keeps making them.

      1. You said X Dive “was” a great game, but it is still available as an offline version (Mega Man X Dive Offline). It is the full game without in-app purchases and is on sale now.

      1. Lol. Mega Man 11 was definitely NOT great. Guess people’s standard lowered over the years.

The voices were grating (Mega Man’s most of all). The Double Gear gimmick was poorly thought, either being useless or outright broken at some times. Most stage gimmicks were badly done as well. And the story was just meh plus the stupidity at the very end in the name of “status quo is god” (though, to be fair, Capcom sucks at making stories).

          1. No way THE SUCK GUY IS BACK!!!! mmmmm…. I’m starting to think that…YOU are Blah. Now that I think about it, there was never a Blah Sucks account… blah is that you?

      1. I’m really really sure all the trolls are actually either Blah or The “ok boomer” guy. Sikr said already that the New Trolls come from the same ip that uses a vpn so I think it’s someone Sickr banned, would explain why this new wave is so obsessed with sickr. BUT HEY THAT’S JUST A THEORY A…MYNINTENDONEWS THEORY, THANKS FOR READING!

  1. I believe Mega Man is one of Capcoms most important IPs, but i don’t believe they are continuously considering ways to develop it further.
