Rumour: Final Fantasy IX Remake development is possibly in trouble

There have been a number of substantial rumours that the next big project for Square Enix is a remake of the beloved Final Fantasy IX. Prominent leaker Nate Drake has stated in a post on Reset Era that he had heard that the project was in trouble as Square Enix tackle the mammoth task of remaking the PlayStation One title for current platforms. Square Enix has not confirmed that a Final Fantasy IX remake is in development.

“As of last check it remains in development, to my knowledge; but I need to a do a fresh check & see what a more current status is — as I did hear a month or so ago that it was in trouble & possibly cancelled. I only had one source on the cancellation possibility and need to verify the info further.”

    1. Severe grass touching needed

This has to be some of the lowest effort trolling I’ve ever seen.

Like dude, if you’re gonna do stuff like this all day instead of getting a job or doing anything else productive, at least put some effort into it y’know?

        1. “they’re gonna announce it on the anniversary!”
          they don’t
“oh uh troubled development maybe cancelled”

          cool great scoop man.

    2. Seeing a boy with a tail that made you feel tingly down there and spend a year confronting some things about yourself, does not make the game bad.

    1. I was able to do everything in that game EXCEPT the nearly impossible jump rope challenge. I got a pretty high count, but never the required amount to 100% the game. It’s right there at the beginning of the game to be a pesky memory of your failure the remainder of your play through. So frustrating…

  1. All of Square is the insiders well shill ones cover for it and shills in general. KH4 is probably not happening, DQ12 has had a ton of trouble, Missing Link got canceled, Just Cause 5 got canceled. Square is betting all on part 3 of FF7 despite FF7 rebirth flopping porting to other consoles isn’t helping them especially years after it’s initial release. Square will close the share holders are being blue balled into thinking success is coming and the restructuring will lead to that.

  2. Step 1 – “leak” something based on flimsy evidence or no evidence at all.
Step 2 – always say “it’s coming” whenever it fails to be announced because it doesn’t exist.
Step 3 – say “it’s in trouble/cancelled” when people notice the pattern, especially if the studio in question is facing trouble.
Step 4 – profit from being a “reliable leaker”.

At this point it’s just funny. That’s what you get from trusting leaks. IF it existed, didn’t you think it’d be already be announced? Even more since they did announce a Tactics port/remake of all things and Part 3 of VII:R isn’t coming until, probably, 2030?
