John Skinny, of Neogaf and Discord notoriety, has said that Nintendo will be releasing a New Super Mario Bros. Collection in celebration of the franchise’s 40th Anniversary. The collection will apparently contain New Super Mario Bros. (DS), New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS). The user reportedly received the information via internal scheduling docs and partial localisation assets via a contractor QA team that he has worked with before. John Skinny previously correctly leaked some details of the Nintendo Switch 2 before release. This a rumour at present and Nintendo has not announced what’s planned for the 40th Anniversary of the Mario franchise.

That sounds super lame and a strange choice so it’s probably accurate.
How is it a strange choice exactly? Contrary to what some people would have you believe, the New series is loved by a lot of people, especially those who grew up with the games.
Not to mention that these 3 games are the only mainline 2D Mario games not currently on the Switch, so it makes sense to finally complete the collection.
Not a strange choice considering we gotten a 2d nes/snes Mario collection for Mario anniversary on the Wii, and a 3d collection Mario collection for the switch it was definitely inevitable.
Y’all will run with anything before fact checking it. SpiritOfAce has made multiple fictional “leaks” before, even using the same “source” of John Skinny. Not one of them was true.

Multiplayer in Mario Wonder was lame, so at least will there be something fun to play with friends 😄
God this would be so amazing. Some of my favorite Mario games. So nostalgic, omg… I know it gets a bad rep because of Mario U & Luigi U using the formula/artstyle a little too much, but NSMB DS, Wii, and 2 are absolutely fantastic and so nostalgic omg

The mega mushroom originated from the New Super Mario Bros game, and Mario Kart World brought back the item from Mario Kart Wii. This sounds like a good way to get people familiar with the origins of where the mega mushroom derived from. Next question is will these games be a limited time release?
Watch it not contain every NSMB title. Too much value in Nintendo’s eyes to include U and LuigiU, or perhaps they wont include NSMB2. I know it wouldn’t make sense but i want 3D Land on a cartridge for my Switch 2. 64GB cartridges after all. Mario 64 DS + Super Mario 3D Land HD

The leaked image floating around is already debunked as fake.
Going back to this, and even though we didn’t get a Super Mario Bros. collection, I’m glad the Galaxy games are not limited time. Maybe sometime in the future we can get a remaster of New Super Mario Bros where the mega mushroom originated from.
