EA apparently refuses to fund a remake of Dragon Age Origins or a Remastered Collection

Many of you who don’t own other systems have been itching to play the Dragon Age franchise from EA and a remastered collection of Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition would be ideal. Former Bioware executive producer Mark Darrah has said that they have pitched the idea to EA several times, but the company simply refuses to fund it every single time. This is odd as EA has released a Mass Effect Collection, which contained the first three games in the beloved series. Darrah says that EA as a company is against remasters overall. He also notes that a Dragon Age remastered collection would be harder to accomplish than Mass Effect.

    1. Against remasters… Mass Effect, Command and Conquer… with further CnC remasters on the table… Seems like a lie. This person never pitched the idea clearly.

  1. That would be nice, especially since the top 3 for these 2 series are the best Bioware games. Ask Nintendo at worst! ^^ (little jab at EA..)

  2. The problem is that they are pushing for the slop that is Veil Guard and don’t want people playing the older games that are not slop. Would be awesome if they did but EA will be EA and will do everything to avoid making actually good games.

  3. I’d settle for a god damn PORT. I don’t want a remaster, it doesn’t need it, the game is good. I can only imagine the amount of censorship and downgrading that’d be required for a remaster or remake.

  4. It’s honestly ridiculous that EA still refuses to fund a Dragon Age: Origins remaster or a complete collection. We’re talking about one of the best RPGs ever made a game that still gets praised for its depth, writing, and unforgettable characters more than a decade later. The fact that they greenlit the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, watched it sell like crazy, and still can’t be bothered to do the same for Dragon Age is beyond baffling.

This isn’t some niche, risky gamble. It’s a guaranteed money-maker with an already devoted fan base practically begging to hand over their cash. The only thing stopping it is EA’s own stubbornness which at this point feels less like a business decision and more like some weird, personal vendetta against the franchise. Why else ignore one of their most acclaimed titles while letting it sit there, untouched, gathering digital dust?

Updating Origins with modern visuals and QoL improvements would be like striking oil in your own backyard and EA is just standing there, staring at the ground, arms crossed, refusing to dig. It’s either corporate spite, or the most short-sighted move I’ve ever seen in gaming.
