Digital Foundry: Final Fantasy 7 Remake “is the best looking thing I’ve seen on Switch 2”

The tech-focussed team at Digital Foundry has played Final Fantasy 7 Remake at Gamescom and has come away with the impression that it’s the best looking Nintendo Switch 2 title so far. They say that the game looks even better than the PlayStation 4 version and that it runs at a smooth 40fps. We are still waiting to hear a firm release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

DF Direct Weekly #228 is now on early access to backers of our Supporter Program, talking Gamescom 2025 highlights, Elden Ring and FF7R on Switch 2, Valve Fremont specs, Microsoft's proposed #StutterStruggle solution, Kirby's Air Ride and much, much more: patreon.com/digitalfoundry

  1. Great to hear. I’ve played this game thrice, PS4, Steam Deck, and PS5. This version seems to be between the Deck and PS5. Hoping this sells well so we can get Rebirth and the third as well!

    1. According to Square Enix, they will be making Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the conclusion for Nintendo Switch 2 starting in 2026.

  2. The platform that it was posted on has nothing to do with the content of the message. If that bothers you so much, it’s time to go outside.

        1. Twitter isn’t an echo chamber and allows all viewpoints. Bluesky is full of communist lunatics that argue over there echo chamber not being pure enough.
