EA plans to be acquired for $55 billion by investors led by Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia

EA has decided to go private in a deal with $55 billion and its set to be acquired by a consortium of investors led by Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. The buyout of EA is expected to close in the first quarter of the 2027 financial year. The team will continue to be led by Andrew Wilson.

“Under the terms of the agreement, the Consortium will acquire 100% of EA, with PIF rolling over its existing 9.9% stake in the Company. EA stockholders will receive $210 per share in cash. The per share purchase price represents a 25% premium to EA’s unaffected share price of $168.32 at market close on September 25, 2025, the last fully unaffected trading day, and a premium to EA’s unaffected all-time high of $179.01 at market close on August 14, 2025.”

“Electronic Arts is an extraordinary company with a world-class management team and a bold vision for the future. I’ve admired their ability to create iconic, lasting experiences, and as someone who grew up playing their games - and now enjoys them with his kids – I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead,” said Jared Kushner, Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Partners.

  1. All the employees better walk out. Funny they don’t when it’s China or Pro Israel backers like venture capitalist firms or Disney. Curious if the NCAA and NFL pull away now from EA? All employees better quit now.

  2. We’ll see if the incompetent in the White House will react to this; it’s still a big American company that’s been bought out by foreigners…and Saudis at that

  3. Love it. Hopefully SSX, NBA Street, and maybe Def Jam or a spiritual succesor come back. UFC hopefully they tell them just make the games like Undisputed again not sure if Fight Night comes back since the Saudi’s are paying Dimps for a boxing game. If you don’t like it then don’t buy the games most of you already didn’t. Saudi’s own stakes in Capcom, Nintendo, and many other game companies boycott those too.

    1. Jixka a private equity firm didn’t buy Nintendo or Capcom. Love or hate EA, a private equity having 100% ownership over a long standing videoame maker is not good for the video game industry, just judging on what private equity firms have done to other businesses.

  4. It’s a private equity firm, doesn’t matter who is backing this specific one, they’re all terrible. Whatever you thought of EA’s decision making before, it’s about to get worse. That’s what private equity firms, they suck out the soul, crash the business and then sell the parts.

  5. Saudi’s need to finally buy Capcom out and eventually Nintendo. Buy Toei and Hitotsubashi Group finally make the big Shonen Jump crossover game fans been wanting have CyberConnect2 make it.

    1. To be pleased that a theocratic country where its religion is law, where it diminishes the status of women, or rejects any form of evolution of Darwinism, among other things, could “possibly in another universe” buy Nintendo or Capcom, two giants that produce good games for us, ahem… no comment!

  6. Awesome hope this means SSX is back, NBA Street is back, Mercenaries is back, Def Jam is back, this will be awesome! Bring UFC Undisputed gameplay back bring PrideFC mode back partner with Rizin.

    1. But they’re not! They only care about the big money makers sports and Battlefield. You can kiss all other franchises goodbye. They will eventually be sold off to other companies like THQ and Midway before it.

  7. I swear all of you mad don’t even play EA games so this doesn’t bother you but because politics you all have to have an opinion. Shut up with the millennial virtue signaling we’re all tired of it! Hope this means games are good again no long waits and no more woke trash. Also franchises can comeback Def Jam, Mercenaries, SSX, NBA Street, maybe they even fix Skate and UFC.

  8. Bro can’t wait SSX can finally come back hopefully its a SSX3 type game meets Jet Set Radio open world game and a Def Jam game too. Also finally a GTA clone a Sleeping Dogs spiritual successor would be great or just buy Sleeping Dogs and make a sequel finally. We need this. Bring back Mercenaries too. NBA Street too with the new young guys like Ja Morant and Kyrie sneakers would go hard and online now so much better than 2K. Maybe even take Skate the Bomb Rush Cyberfunk route too. Fund a new big Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 3D platformer too.
