The legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto was asked randomly by an investor what the former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi would think of the company’s impressive Nintendo Switch 2 sales. Mr. Miyamoto replied by saying that would be a little jealous that they’ve have achieved so much, but he would also advise them not to get too cocky and keep their head’s down. Here’s the exchange.
Investor: Hypothetically speaking, if (former president) Hiroshi Yamauchi were still alive, how would you evaluate the current state of Switch 2? If so, I’d like to know what kind of comments you think they’ll make.
Miyamoto: As president of Nintendo, Yamauchi may feel jealous that the numbers have surpassed those of his time, but at the same time, as a business executive in Kyoto, I think he would say, “Don’t get too cocky, stay calm and keep your head down, and do your best

that’s an interesting thing to spend your valuable question time on as an investor, but I like Miyamoto’s response
No disrespect to Yamauchi, he led the company through their classic days all the way up until the early GameCube era and some of Nintendo’s best games came out while he was president… but what a weird question to ask. Investors still care about Yamauchi’s opinion 20 years after he left the company and 12 years after he passed away?
With all do respect, I think he is already proud of the original Switch and Switch 2 sales already. He knows that Nintendo will do just fine in their console market.
Please don’t tease us with the Starfox picture
The market certainly has its ups and downs, but Nintendo Slope Free always guarantees quality in its challenges. It’s interesting to be able to update and explore the data.
