Aspyr comments on possibility of Shadow and Rise of the Tomb Raider on Switch 2

While the Nintendo Switch 2 might not be getting the latest Tomb Raider games we could well receive the rest of the survivor trilogy on the platform. Aspyr, who ported Tomb Raider Definitive Edition to the Nintendo Switch 2, was asked in a recent interview whether we could see Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider ported over to the platform. The company remained tight lipped when asked, but basically said that we shouldn’t rule anything out.

This game kicked off the Tomb Raider “Survivor” trilogy, so we need to ask the obvious question – is Aspyr interested in bringing over Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider to Nintendo platforms as well?

We have definitely seen this question! We’ve successfully brought back the classic era (I-VI) and now the ‘origin story’ of Lara Croft to modern Nintendo platforms. We can’t announce anything at the moment but the passionate response to this release is strong encouragement for us to continue exploring those possibilities.

Thanks to Jamie for sending in the news tip!

    1. Not really. It’s improved over the 7th gen version, missing some visual detail of the remaster BUT locks 60 frames, which PS4 nor PS4 Pro could do. And has mouse aiming. So while not perfect, it’s arguably the best version to play.

  1. I actually wonder if one of the reason why they’re tight-lipped is because porting the old games is training for them to port one of the two announced ones to Seitch 2 when they come out.

  2. Oh the response to the Switch port of TR:DE was “passionate” alright.
Many people had complaints on how half assed it was. Some people have already done some datamining and it was revealed that they ported the 360/ps3 original version of the game. So it wasn’t even the DE version in the 1st place. Plus it has missing shadows at spots, amongst others things, that make it worse looking than the 7th gen versions.
I honestly do NOT trust them with porting Rise and Shadow to Switch.
