GameStop memo says Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle has ended production

Nintendo has seemingly decided to discontinue the Mario Kart World Nintendo Switch 2 bundle which many of you picked up at launch and post launch. The news comes from a leaked internal GameStop memo which says that the bundle has now ceased production. It is not clear what game Nintendo plans to bundle with the Nintendo Switch 2 going forward, but with Animal Crossing: New Horizons getting the Nintendo Switch 2 treatment in January, that might be a safe bet.

        1. I think some of the Switch 2 consoles are still in stock but Nintendo President did mentioned that more Switch 2 console productions will be shipped after the holidays since anyone didn’t get theirs before it sold out in most regions and soon, it will be expensive by sometime next year which I will not be looking forward to it thanks to our incompetence president.

          1. “Orane man bad!” Best president of our lifetimes, womp womp. Nintendo’s greed is what’s making it so pricy, should’ve been $400 with MKW bundled for everyone.

    1. Mate, you’re confused. Switch had Mario Kart 8 DX which was an upgraded Wii U game.
Mario Kart World is a new game. I’ve also had a lot of fun with it. I finally bought a Switch 2 (MKW bundle) and have enjoyed it… Probably more than I did with MK8Dx (but I also never played the DLC for MK8Dx).

It’s the free roam mode that will probably make or break the game for you. To me, it reminded a bit of playing Diddy Kong Racing and A LOT of playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater. It’s absolutely not perfect though and has some glaring issues like not being able to control your playlist (the soundtrack is amazing) or having some in-game mechanic to locate P-Switches (there are 394 total) or Peach Medallions (200). It’s also a shame what’s happened to the traditional grand prix mode, but it’s not atrocious like I was led to believe. I have other complaints but I’m already ranting.

What I’m really hoping is that… since this was a launch title and $80, Nintendo will continue to update and support the game throughout the Switch 2 life cycle. I’m a little shocked they haven’t done much of anything yet though… but I’d be more shocked if they didn’t do any content updates.

      1. Nah man, when I said upgraded switch 1 game I was referring to animal crossing new horizons switch 2 edition, suggested by Sickr in the article, I know exactly that mkw is a new game and I now exactly that I’m going to love it, already heard that the free roam is pretty empty and all but I like to mess around in open areas and from what I’ve seen the physics of the game looks leagues better than Mario kart 8.
Still haven’t bought a switch 2 cause I don’t think it’s still worth it, right now Mario kart world and Kirby air riders are the only two I’m interested, if a new smash comes out I’ll probably buy it.

        1. Its ok that you didn’t get the system yet. I can tell your waiting for the price to go down for Switch games which is good, but for Switch products and the system itself, it won’t be happening right away sadly.

        2. Oh, that makes more sense. Yes, I agree with you about the Animal Crossing bundle. I don’t think it would draw in a crowd because… it would have to be for people who haven’t bought ACNH already because I’m sure they’ll charge like $10-20 to upgrade the Switch 1 version so… why bother buying a more expensive bundle when you can just buy a base switch 2 and ACNH upgrade back for cheaper

  1. I knew Nintendo would come to their senses eventually, why would they want to loose money on every digital kart world sold, they had to click their greedy heels together sometime lol 😂👍

  2. I’ve got Mario kart world but not tried free roam or online yet. Those aspects don’t really interest me but I will try them at some point.

  3. I got mine on launch day. I have some alternate costumes to still unlock from the food bags. But, not too many. I am not going to find every single Peach Medallion, every single question mark box and complete every P Switch mission. Having all the stickers is just not worth it for the time it will take and effort. Everything else is done and I just play at random and wait to have people over for parties. Something tells me that they are not going to add much more to this game, if they add anything more at all.
