Nintendo of America’s new president Devon Pritchard has appeared via video link at The New York Game Awards and gave her first speech to attendees and gamers the world over. Pritchard recently took over from Doug Bowser, who has now retired from the video game industry. Here’s what she had to say:
“Hi everyone, it is great to be here. My name is Devon, and before anything else, I want to celebrate the New York Game Awards. 15 years of supporting the games industry and in doing so lifting up the voices, stories, and dreams of so many.
“This show connects people who are united by a shared belief that every dream matters, and that everyone deserves a chance to do meaningful and creative work in games and storytelling. The ‘Playing With Purpose’ programme supports the creators, the coders, the writers, and anyone else dreaming big to join this community and bring all that makes them unique.
“I’m excited to meet you! To hear those stories and to learn from your journeys. And remember, like any good video game character, you’re on an adventure, and every step you take matters. There’s some gnarly bosses, sure, but also many good friends along the way who will support you, and powerful rewards for those who persevere.
“So keep believing, keep playing, and know that you truly belong in this game.”

No she is an exec also that is weird and yes calling Reggie that was and is weird too they are just execs for the American division of a company. Heck he didn’t even do great he held off on US releases of games he did not want Fire Emblem localized and I think Mother 3 as well. Few other Japanese games too, not all his fault Sega’s and Nintendo America of the 90’s had that problem never seeing eye to eye with the Japanese divisions Sony too had that issue still does.

I do not think she has that power being NoA president not of Nintendo as a whole but bet she is an activist. She got the job being the Pokémon lawyer I believe so they want her to go in against that stuff for sure like Palworld. As President of NoA, she holds virtually no power. She could never dream to touch KK’s level of narcissism, toxicity, or self delusional grandeur. Doesn’t mean she wouldn’t try if that’s who she is, but she would likely be removed very quickly if she does. From this article she does indeed seem nice, but the entertainment media of the last 20 years has proven when a women gets behind something they typically, statistically on average, ruin it. There are very few women who want to see women in charge too, the majority are tired of Boss Girls and if you defend those in that position with that mindset, we’re all tired of you ruining our things that your own audience you’re pandering to doesn’t want.

Was this needed it feels like a circle jerk. Honestly Doug didn’t need to do Nintendo Directs and thankfully he didn’t do much, Reggie was different.
