Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3’s title is now decided and they are sticking with Unreal 4

Final Fantasy VII Remake game director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that they have finally decided on the title of the third game in the remake series. Previously they had narrowed the title down to two choices and he had left it up to Tetsuya Nomura to make a decision on which one to go for and naturally he made up his mind. Presumably it will be shared soon.

“I remember an interview I did at Paris Games Week about how we’d narrowed it down to two [names],” says Hamaguchi. “It was up to Mr. Nomura to decide which it is. And yes, after returning from Paris Games Week, he did choose one, so I can say the title has been locked.”

Naoki Hamaguchi also confirmed that the third game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series will use Unreal Engine 4, rather than the newer Unreal Engine 5. It makes sense for the team to continue using the same engine as the developers are naturally very familiar with it and they have modified it to suit their needs.

“We’ve been using Unreal Engine 4, but we’ve made a lot of modifications to fit our needs,” says Hamaguchi. “It’s more beneficial to have something we’re already familiar with and have customized to fit our needs.”

  1. I have to say I am very much enjoying VII remake on Switch 2 and this is despite never really liking a FF before. The only one I ever liked before this was Tactics Advance so it’s done well to impress me

      1. No its not. Rebirth flopped. Also Nomura is directing KH not FF7 his project is KH4 all he does on FF7 since Rebirth is just art.

        1. I have a question I was told too tjat Nomura was not behind this game just did art if that is the case why is he picking names? I was even told he was not the real director of Remake which is why the other director took over with Rebirth as sole director. This is even more confusing with KH then because he is directing KH4 and development of that started in 2019. What does he do exactly? Is he split between these 2 games or is he just a artist on 7 and director on KH?

      2. What does that have to do with anything? Nomura is directing KH4 not FF7. I believe development of KH4 started in 2019 so it started before 7 Part 3 at least and Part 3 will release in 2027 for certain but no certainty of KH4. It’s a good question what is going on and where is KH4? It’s now 2026 so almost 7 years since development probably started, and almost 4 years since the reveal of the gameplay trailer in 2022 that is enough time for a game to be released.

    1. It’s weird that was revealed first in 2022 started development in 2019 but this comes out first? Even worse KH has gotten nothing if anything reverse no remakes, mobile games cancelled and delisted. I do want to know what is going on behind the scenes this is weird? Normally insiders would leak this stuff but so far nothing. Part 3 I believe started development around 2023 or 2022 because they did confirm it was in development when Rebirth promotion began ahead of release.

  2. Do the people constantly spamming “WHERE IS KINGDOM HEARTS 4!!!1!” on these posts really expect anyone from Square to see their comments, let alone respond to them?

Like, what exactly are you trying to achieve by posting the exact same thing over and over again?

    1. That actually be the most likely. I was thinking FF7 Ressurections or something like that, but your’s is the most fitting title.

    2. It’s gonna probably be ff7 reborn. The final boss theme of ff7 remake was one winged angel rebirth, the final boss theme of ff7 rebirth was one winged angel reborn, there’s a pattern here.

  3. Unreal Engine? This game will suck on top of the fact that the story is dumbed down. But sheepish fanboys and girls will buy this blindly.
