Yoko Taro: Hideki Kamiya’s blocking sprees and snark are positive for game industry

Nier creator Yoko Taro has defended Hideki Kamiya’s on social media for which he’s notable for his blocking sprees and snarky comments to those he believes are trolling or ask what Kamiya deems to be stupid questions. Taro said that we need more developers like Kamiya who won’t just take comments lying down. Here’s what he said:

“When you’re a game creator and a public-facing personality, you draw attention from a lot of people, including some real weirdos. Some of them say things that are seriously absurd or out of line. But since they’re your customers and your audience, you can’t really clap back at full force.”

“But Kamiya does clap back. He just tells them, ‘Go away, you insect!’ (laughs). Just like how there are people who will tell you off in real life when provoked, I think it’s a net positive to instill the fear that are also game creators who have that edge. (…) That’s why I think having Kamiya-san around as a game industry peer is super reassuring.”

Kamiya agreed with the sentiment, commenting, “A lot of people assume we’ll sit there and be their punching bags, so they get stunned when you suddenly punch them back.” Although Kamiya’s a force to be reckoned with on X, Yoko Taro and his colleagues at CLOVERS vouch that he’s an entirely different person in the workplace and in private.

  1. I mean … Not gonna sugar coat it…. But dude actually got more toxic. And abit racist like I get English wasn’t your first language but his clap backs to genuine nice comments IN ENGLISH were abit out of pocket and not called for. They weren’t even trolls

He also got unhinged for a lot of smaller stuff…. since 2016 dudes beed a wild fire

      1. He is not based he is an entitled man baby blocks people for no reason or common sense that ain’t based that’s p*s$y he can dish it out but can’t take it back also he’s not really offensive more so offended if he is offensive he’s one of those virtue signal people who will say it’s wrong if you are offensive but ok if they are. Tomonobu Itagaki was based so is Toshihiro Nagoshi.

        1. Look at the guy’s name. He’s just a sad little trump worshipper who wants bigotry normalized as much as possible.

      2. Figures the MAGA moron would have the most pathetic take imaginable. Do you guys not get tired of humiliating yourselves?

You sound almost as moronic as that pathetic Kirk loser, and look what happened to him ;)

    1. Never seen him be racist only seen him act entitled and block people over nothing like a child like start an argument and then block someone from responding. He’s blocked people who never interacted with him. One time he did delete his account because the man baby couldn’t handle it anymore then came back. If he is racist his man baby brigade which includes Max Dood should be disowning him the man babies attacked and slandered Itagaki over nothing for years, tried cancelling SNK over Saudi ownership and Ronaldo being in the game, and Max cancelled sponsorship with Sega over Yakuza 3 casting recently.

  2. No, insulting and arguing with people on twitter has never been productive. The positive thing would be to just ignore such comments (thus not validating them) or even just… deleting your twitter account.

    1. Agreed he is a man baby larping as a Chad and his moron defense squad like Max Dood defend it. It’s worse when he can’t deliver games or blocks people he has no interaction with. Ed Boon is the same teased projects and DLC never delivers on it same with other devs more busy with social media than making games then dry the internet is toxic, then don’t use it.

  3. That is not positive or productive. Honestly these devs should have social media taken away from them they spend more time there than making stuff then did themselves into trouble underdeliver or deceive. James Gunn does it with DC.
