Bloomberg: Nintendo considering price rise for Switch 2 this year

Bloomberg is reporting this morning that its sources have told them that Nintendo is actively considering increasing the retail price of the Nintendo Switch 2 due to increased component costs. This isn’t the first time that we have heard this, but it should be noted that the company hasn’t made a final decision on this.

“Close rival Nintendo Co., which contributed to the surplus demand in 2025 after its new Switch 2 console drove storage card purchases, is also contemplating raising the price of that device in 2026, people familiar with its plans said. Sony and Nintendo representatives didn’t respond to requests for comment.”

    1. Yeah, I can’t blame them too. Because people knew this is going to happen at some point thanks to the current idiotic president. PlayStation and Xbox is already doing the same thing as well. due to the parts they have used for their handheld systems.

    2. This is all on companies buying up all the DRAM for their dumb AI centers and companies that make DRAM by supplying to those AI centers. Do I blame Nintendo and other consoles makers for raising prices? No. Will it suck? Yes. I’m already screwed with SSDs so I kinda have to resort to buying mechanical drives.

  1. Pretty worrying considering many already consider the price to be too high. I think that the hardware is priced just right for what it is – I can’t see any competitors on the market that match its power and portability for that price. However, a price increase would certainly make me rethink that. The games are also already overpriced so now you’re just making the whole package prohibitively expensive.

  2. Personally, I’m surprised the Switch 2 is able to sell as well in its $450 base price. I kinda don’t think it will slow down as much even if it got a $50 increase. Lots of people are diehard fans that they’ll pay Sony/Playstation prices, which is good for the company, but I wonder if that conveys that they don’t need to lower the prices.

  3. If the price increase is going to be 50$, that would be annoying, but ok with the ram shortages. Most people spent 500$ to have mario kart world with their console, so it might not be that noticable to people who are looking to buy a switch 2 later in the future.

  4. Then the prices of the controllers and other accessories should drop in price. I believe they went up to help with keeping the SKU’s at the same price point.

  5. Thank god I got mine already. I hope they do raise the price now. It’ll make the ones already owned worth more than what they bought it for. Not that I’d sell mine, but if you haven’t gotten one by now that’s unfortunate for you. Guess if Nintendo raises the price they oughta know that nobody will be buying (clearly if fans didn’t buy before the price rise)

    1. Dude, not everyone has one you know. Your basically just saying that because you got yours way early after its release before the price for the system or product increases by the company. Just because you have the Switch 2 way early, that doesn’t mean you should be making fun or mock people who doesn’t have one yet. I seen a few people got their console stolen in their homes during the robbery after getting theirs in stores on launch day.
