A rumour is doing the rounds this afternoon, courtesy of a Chinese leaker who apparently correctly revealed Ninja Gaiden 4 information before the game’s release, that a brand new Bayonetta game is in development. That’s not all as the leaker also says that there’s a planned remake or remaster of the original Bayonetta video game in a similar vein to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The leaker concludes by saying that a Metal Gear Rising Revengence remaster/remake is also in development. Here’s a translated summary courtesy of Reddit user teardropfrozen:
1. New Bayonetta Game
- Game genre: Character Action Game oriented. To reach a wider audience, they will reduce the complexity of the combat system while adding more gameplay content.
- Changes: Wicked Weaves can now be executed directly consuming a sort of resource bar. Adding new shield guarding and shield counter mechanics (dodge mechanics untouched).
- Development: UE5 based. Top-level scale among studios based in Japan. Budget matching Final Fantasy XVI. In development for 2 years already. R&D and prototype phase done, currently making vertical slice with established core gameplay and quality standard.
- Progress: Entering mass production phase if they pass Tencent’s review successfully in March. Planning to release the full game in early 2028. Probably announcing the game in late 2026.
- Comments from the leaker: no impressive design, an average game.
2. Remaster/Remake Projects
- Projects: Remaster/Remake of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising Revengence.
- Scale: Higher than remaster, less than full remake.
- Bayonetta Remaster/Remake: UE5 based. Upgrading models & textures. Not a typical remaster, will tweak gameplay & level design a bit (similar to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater).
- Release date: announcing in 2026, releasing in 2027.
3. IP & Publishing
PlatinumGames has bought back Bayonetta. The new game and the remaster/remake version will release on multiple platforms.
They only bought back the original Bayonetta for franchise reboot and the remaster/remake. They currently have no plan to reclaim Bayonetta 2 & Bayonetta 3.
The future of Bayonetta franchise depends on how well remaster/remake sells and the negotiation of development budget.
4. Industry Background
Game Industry in Japan has been in a slump, game companies lack confident and not willing to invest heavily in new IPs. They prefer remastering/remaking old games to lower the risk and PlatinumGames is just trend following.

Whether it’s Anakin or Bayonetta, don’t underestimate their power.
Bayonetta doesn’t sound interesting without kamiya or hashimoto direct involvement.
I hope they have a scene with Bayo and Jeanne talking about how cute boys are
tahats sounds forced and terrible
I hope they have a scene with bayo and Jeanne talking about how cute monkeys inside balls are IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT CFG
It’s kind of bad timing though since they seem to have bought the IP from Sega
Oh…
Where is that said as fact. Only place I see that is here any article or statement?
Bayonetta is dead.
I’ll take the MGR remaster, tho.
Bayonetta WAS dead. PlatinumGames now owns the Bayonetta franchise.
Bayonetta was dead without Nintendo cuz Sony and Microsoft didn’t want her.
That’s one of the biggest lies on the internet. Kamiya never said who rejected Bayonetta, and even though I love this franchise, it’s not like any company was obligated to publish it.
It sounds unlikely, Sega does not sell its IPs.
How was it dead they made 3 and that other game not long ago. Is it that fact they bought it not just rumor? If so why not the other IP like Madworld?
And Nintendo would have let go of the franchise that easily? Yeah, I doubt it… And anyway, without Kamiya-san, it’s no longer Bayonetta.
It sounds more like sega let bayonetta go, if i read well it says that platinumgames now owns the first entry.
That’s unlikely because Sega owns the franchise as a whole, including its spin-offs. They didn’t even sell it to Nintendo, let alone Platinum, lol.
They don’t own the first game.
and since Nintendo wants to go back to their old ways, they might be willing to renegotiate as long they’re still getting the games.
He didn’t direct the last game or 2 what are you talking about also other series at Capcom thrived without him. Sega owns Bayonetta not Nintendo.
Sounds like they are making the right changes to Bayo. The fighting system is ridiculously convoluted and utterly pointless.
Bayonetta is almost dead.
Sounds like Bayonetta is multiplat again. Will be funny if Switch 2 doesn’t even get it.
Only the first Bayonetta, and it was already multiplatform, bayo 2, 3 and origins are still nintendo exclusives.
Sega still owns the franchise as a whole, including its spin-offs. They didn’t sell it to Nintendo or Platinum, lol. That’s why this rumor sounds false.

Nintendo doesn’t really kill off franchises that sell poorly. Metriod never really sold well but nintendo knows that it’s a beloved franchise, so they keep pumping out those games.
METAL GEAR RISING REVENGEANCE-STERED LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
More Bayonetta is also great. I even enjoyed Bayo 3.
Considering the story arc and ending to Bayonetta 3 was so cancerously awful, just give up the ghost already. No one should care anymore.
What about Astral Chain2? I been waiting a half a decade for that sequel. What do this developers be doing once they make a game? What we gotta do wait 20+ years for sequels now? And just because they saying Bayonetta was bought d9esnt mean they actually started the 4th installment. Bayonetta 4 may not come out until 2037. So then you may need a PS3 or PS7 to play Bayonetta 4
Sega still owns bayonetta. If they sold the IP if the sold it to platinum games they would’ve announced it
And Nintendo owns the astral chain IP @Gruntilda
If these rumors are true, it sounds like the new Bayonetta game could aim for a wider audience by simplifying combat while expanding content. That balance is always tricky because longtime fans expect depth, but accessibility can bring new players in. Remasters of classic action titles also make sense since nostalgia still drives strong engagement across any online platform. It reminds me how digital environments evolve, whether it is a competitive game ecosystem or structured spaces like six6x casino where systems are updated to maintain user interest and potential profit opportunities. As always, players will judge the final product by polish and long term value rather than early hype.
It will be interesting to play this game. I was recently told that online casinos today are technological platforms, such as https://rickyscasino-au.net/en-au/, with extended functionality. Players have access to tournaments, ratings, and special offers. Regular catalog updates keep the audience interested, and the notification system helps them stay on top of important events. This approach makes using the service more organized.
