Limited Run Games has apologised to the Sonic community for the Dreamcast statue quality that comes as part of the mammoth Sonic x Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition. The company says it has paused shipments while they figure out what to do stating that “the Sonic and Shadow Dreamcast Statue was not up to the standard you deserve, or that we set for ourselves. The quality is not acceptable.” The company says that those who already received the Collector’s Edition can receive a no-cost replacement or a full refund for their purchase. Here’s the letter they sent out to the fan base.
To the Sonic community,
We owe you a clear apology. Seriously. A number of you have received your SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS Collector’s Edition, and the Sonic and Shadow Dreamcast Statue was not up to the standard you deserve, or the standard we set for ourselves.
The quality is not acceptable. If you are disappointed or frustrated, you have a right to be. There is new leadership at Limited Run Games, and with that comes a new vision and higher expectations for what an LRG release should mean for the gaming community and for our fans. When we miss, we do not hide behind process, suppliers, or excuses. We own it, we fix it, and we do it the only way we should – the right way. Most importantly, we make sure we do better in every future LRG release.
For SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS, here is what we are doing right now. Effective immediately, we are pausing any additional shipments of the Collector’s Edition. We are going back into a completely new production cycle for the final Sonic X Shadow Dreamcast Statue so that it matches what fans expect from a premium Collector’s Edition offering. If you already received your Collector’s Edition, you will not be left hanging. We will make this right for every affected fan, including those whose orders have already shipped. Within the next seven days, we will email all customers with clear options and next steps. Those options will include a no-cost replacement path once the quality-assured statue is ready. We will also offer a refund option for customers who do not want to wait, with details in that email.
We know words are cheap. What matters is what we do next, and how quickly we do it. To keep this transparent and earn your trust, we have started a production blog at

Whenever a physical game says that it’s gpong to be published by Limited Run, I deliberately not buy it
Sorry they got caught. They apologize like a cowardly opponent who would throw dirt in your eyes.
I mean, when “gamers” allow garbage like CDPR with Cyberpunk or liars like Sean Murray with No Man’s Lie to get away with their massive controversial games, shit like this continues to happen. Both of those anti-consumer examples people defend today, and they shouldn’t. There’s no excuse, it doesn’t matter what they did to make it right, they still INTENTIONALLY lied and deceived you…. On purpose, knowingly, had every opportunity to fix it beforehand and chose not to until it affected their profits.
Stop giving POS devs and publishers an excuse.
I would ask why they don’t apologize for the lackluster quality of Smith era Sonic games as a whole while they’re at it, but after realizing we actually might not get ice flower in super Mario bros wonder switch 2 edition, I’m convinced disobedience is this stupid world’s air and oxygen. I think I’ve gotten numb to it all.
