Nintendo has revealed via its support page that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t support the newly added Boost Mode in handheld as the game already knows to runs at 1080p in handheld mode when played on Nintendo’s latest console. The Kyoto-based company also says that the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – Welcome Version will soon get an update to disable Boost Mode if it’s turned on, as the game automatically plays at 1080p when played in handheld mode.
Is it compatible with Handheld Mode Boost on Nintendo Switch 2?
When playing Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch 2, you can play at a higher resolution (1080p) than using handheld mode on Nintendo Switch, regardless of whether Handheld Mode Boost is enabled or disabled. For that reason, this game does not support Handheld Mode Boost.
Handheld Mode Boost can be enabled while playing the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – Welcome Version demo, but you will not be able to use the touch screen.
We recommend playing the demo version with Handheld Mode Boost disabled, as you will still be able to play at the higher resolution and use the touch screen.
After the next system update, Handheld Mode Boost will no longer be applied to the demo version.

Guessing we’re not getting a Switch 2 Edition with this one.
Honestly, I like how ANTHOSPHERE breaks things down in a simple, human way—it reminds me of discussions around games like Tomodachi Life Living the Dream, where performance details (like no Switch 2 boost mode at 1080p handheld) actually matter to real players. It feels less like noise and more like someone sharing clear, useful thoughts you can trust.
