Nintendo placing image sharing restrictions in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Nintendo has confirmed via its support page that it will be placing image restrictions on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream when it launches on 16th April. This presumably means that the screenshot button could be disabled in the game or during certain situations. Nintendo says that they have implemented this policy for the game in an effort to retain its “ongoing philosophy of creating experiences that bring smiles to everyone who plays.”

“Nintendo aims to create experiences where players have the freedom to enjoy their Mii characters in their own way. In Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, this freedom can sometimes lead to humorous, surprising, or unpredictable moments during gameplay.

While these moments are often fun for players, we recognize that out-of-context scenes may be misunderstood or may not reflect the spirit in which the game is intended to be enjoyed.

Nintendo is committed to creating experiences that are welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

To support this commitment, and in consideration of the unique gameplay in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, we have decided to place restrictions on certain image sharing features. These limits help to make the worlds players create in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream remain fun and safe, and that the game can be enjoyed comfortably by all players.

We understand that some players may find these restrictions limiting. However, they reflect Nintendo’s ongoing philosophy of creating experiences that bring smiles to everyone who plays.”

  1. Good Guy Nintendo Making Us Pay Unfair Prices for Games only To Tell Us How and How Not We Are Allowed To Play Our Games. I’m sick if this bs

    1. Your argument would be a biiiit less stupid had not for:

      -Racist Gengar.
-People drawing dicks on MKDS’s decals.
-People drawing dicks on a NPC’s face in ACNL.

Because, apparently, the idea of “how to play a game” by some people is to draw lots of dicks.
And no, the game isn’t even yours. It never was yours. When you boot up a game there are two things called “agreement license” and “user’s privacy” that establish some guidelines. The “I agree” prompt isn’t just for show.

  2. I paid $500 for a console with a screenshot button that Nintendo now decides when and when not I’m allowed to use it. It’s always a Monkey’s palm with Nintendo. They always have to do something extreme anti consumer and then post it somewhere where it’ll not get much attention. They sre scumbags. I love many Nintendo games but more often than not Nintendo are greedy scumbags.

    1. Spittin truth bullets

Unfortunately a lot of quality games fell off a cliff since Nintendo lost Rare, they carried them muchly on the 64.

Nowadays they think that huge landscape = content for some reason.

Valve also getting/gotten greedy, trying to pass their kinda dated Source 2 engine onto people by selling a low spec Steam Machine for their new games because they didn’t want to release sequels a decade ago.

    2. Nintendo is not doing this on purpose or do this just to increase their market revenues at the industry. They are not always that greedy, but in times like this, they can be occasionally. The only thing that Nintendo cares about is bring smiles and happiness to fans worldwide. Nintendo is the embodiment of happiness.

  3. I know for a fact unfunny people will draw swastikas and hateful garbage. Unlike dispatch I understand their decision on this. It’s a kids game at the end of the day

  4. I played the 3DS one because I saw other people sharing silly screenshots with others on Miiverse and decided to join in the fun. I often accompanied my screenshots with doodles, because the silly shenanigans sparked my imagination.

I fail to see the point in a Tomodachi Life game without screenshot sharing abilities.

                1. Wrote the comment thinking that it was only about sharing screenshot online, yeah no this is insanely dumb, downloading miis and sharing them was one of the biggest core feature of Tomodachi life, I totally get why you wouldn’t buy it.

                    1. I think it was like the main appeal of new leaf to me too, I remember scrolling a Tumblr page that had all these amazing designs of sweater and tshirts, the people saying “just make it yourself” are coping, I’m sorry I’m not gonna spend dozens of hours to make an immaculate mii by mindlessly following a tutorial when there was a way easier and faster solution. And they removing this right after they announced that you can create custom decals for textures and objects? It sucks.
