Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won numerous awards including Game of the Year at The Game Awards and really captured people’s hearts when it was released. In a recent interview the game’s creative director Guillaume Broche spoke about the iconic The Legend of Zelda franchise and how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the first open world game he truly enjoyed stating that “it’s truly exceptional.” He said that the general sense of exploration at the time was unparalleled and that “it’s an absolute masterclass.”
“It’s truly exceptional. In my opinion, it’s the first open-world game that actually delivered on the promise of an open world – of simply not having a minimap. You have a big map, but you really get that sense of exploration. You see something, and you want to go there.”
And, you can. Or, you can do something else – the world is truly open, in that sense. “Ten thousand things happen along the way, and you get sidetracked. You never end up where you want to go because you keep getting sidetracked by all sorts of things.”
As Broche concludes, “In terms of level design, it’s an absolute masterclass.” I can certainly agree there, as a longtime Zelda fan myself. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are wonderful.

truly, not tears of the bum though
(suggestion: always be polite and considerate (one more suggestion: this Biblical verse: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” – Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version))
no
Will you get lost you unwanted zealot
Botw and totk were beautiful empty wastelands that were more boring to get through than watching paint dry
You played Metroid prime 4, not botw.
If you want to troll, you’re gonna have to try harder than that.
There’s some people who dislike the large open world and I get it.. it can feel padded out.
That’s why some prefer more linear but still kinda open levels in the Mario series, like 3D Land and World vs the other games.
There is something funny about an ex-Ubisoft employee saying BOTW is the first open-world game they enjoyed.
BOTW is the best open world game ever made. The in-vogue reddit karma copypasta that it is full of worthless, empty vistae is akin to 2010s Nickelback denialism and other algorithmic piss takes. People are actually incapable of rational thought. After putting about 400 hours into examining every nook and cranny I can assure you that it is not empty and crying about how weapons break is a skill issue.
I don’t know about that. The things you find are just more weapons and materials. It’s akin to Sticker Star where you find more stickers just to do more battles which lets you find more stickers which lets you do more battles etc etc.
It’s great for when you first start playing but loses a lot of appeal when you reach the level of just constant inventory management.
