The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Bank which started life on the iconic Nintendo 3DS system will shut down 26th February, 2027 and users will need to use the Pokemon HOME service going forward. That’s not all as The Pokémon Company also announced that Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen will link to Pokemon HOME in October and those of you who have completed your Pokedex will be eligible to receive the Mythical Pokémon Celebi on the mobile version of Pokemon HOME. You can read the full details, right here.
Thanks to Robin for sending in the news tip!

Well that gives people time to transfer any of their Pokémon from past games to home including any shinies. Sad it’s closing but there is an incentive to complete the FRLG dex and there’s no time limit to complete it.
I didn’t end up using it to because the data on Pokémon games on the 3DS an onwards was all scattered. You had updates on 3DS, and then updates AND save data on Switch. With the DS games you have everything stored on one cartridge. So my childhood Pokémon stay there anyway. Still, too bad the service is shutting down.
This is sad will never catch them all ever again
Pokemon died when they announced you could no longer Catch ’em All. It will never be good again, best just play PalWorld.
Palworld is literally shovelware slop lmao.
There’s a million different alternatives to Pokemon out there if you wanted something different, and out of all of those you chose Palworld? lmaooo.
oh no there are 20 pokemon missing on switch we should all start crying like johnathan here.
just because they both can catch things doesn’t mean they are comparable games. you had so many options to choose from and you choose a shitgame like palworld
this is the result of XY being rushed enough to not include it’s own native transfer system between gen 5 and gen 6, being greedy for charging a subscription for a storage system AND charging separatly another app just to transfer gen 5 pokemon (later retooled to also transfer the virtual console games), and laziness for not even trying to include this in future games. it was always destined to shut down at some point but the fact they never though of a way to future proof it to atleast serve as a local storage nor even allow us to keep moving pokemon from gen 6 to 7 tells me they never planned ahead, and only made it free for years as a band-aid solution. worse is that they can’t even patch it due to the eshop servers being gone, even then there is no way to locally connect a 3ds to the switch 1 or 2, since it only connected via their servers, so not even a new replacement app would be possible to still transfer to gen 8+. anyone that needs to transfer pokemon to the switch games should do it now or prepare a homebrewed 3ds and switch for it
So wait, Pokémon Bank is still active? I thought it closed a long time ago, lol.
