The Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was given a release date today and it will be arriving on the platform on 11th August. If you are curious the framerate and resolution has been revealed by Bethesda in a press release. The engrossing RPG runs at 30fps and 900p in handheld mode and 1080p and 30fps when it is played in docked mode. DLSS upscaling will also be used to boost the resolution.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year, now running on Nintendo Switch 2 with DLSS support on both handheld and docked mode at 900p 30fps on handheld and 1080p 30fps docked.

That’s great! I’m really hyped for this lol. I can’t believe this is going to be playable in handheld lol, I remember wanting to play the original as a kid a lot
Oof.. That’s rough performance. But to be expected from a pretty low-end device.
The game already ran pretty poorly on xbox series s/x and ps5. But this is honestly pretty darn great, I would have expected 720p for tv mode, but I am happy that it’s 1080. And 900p for handheld is crazy, like that’s barely a downgrade from 1080p. The 30fps is fine for me. I was playing star wars outlaws a couple days ago on my switch 2 and I didn’t really notice the 30 fps.
Look who’s back, the one who talks nonsense.
So what is the native resolution if DLSS is being used to achieve those resolutions? Is it 900p native and 1080p upscaled? Or worse? It may actually be closer to 720p like quality even though it’s upscaled but this is a heavy UE5 game that loves ray tracing, etc, so tradeoffs have to be made somewhere.
Despite this I’ll probably be buying this. I’ll end up playing the hell out of this on an upcoming long flight.
This game and a long flight sound like a match made in heaven lol
1080 30FPS???? Welcome to 2010. This console won’t last 5 years.
Just like the switch 1 oh wait….
It will last for less demanding Nintendo games that look good enough, like Mario Party. But for more demanding games 30FPS isn’t great, it was more bearable on CRT screens because of their fast response, it still wasn’t ideal though.
Switch 1 couldn’t handle early games very well – Zelda BOTW had some rough areas, playable yes, but not so good performance. Switch 2 already has 30FPS titles and it only came out last year. CyberPunk released years ago and it’s only 30/40FPS but that’s not its biggest issue when it has performance dips into the low 20’s during action.
It’s passable as a system for anyone who can’t afford a PS5 or good PC, but it is no way ideal for playing demanding titles. It’s more for games light on the hardware. Luckily there’s a bunch of them that look good enough and run well, but there’s also a bunch that don’t.
It’s a unreal engine 5 games that ran pretty poorly on high end hardware, so this is pretty good for a switch 2 port.
Also remember when people said the original switch would last only a couple of years? That aged like milk.
Nintendo dragged out the hardware without a mid gen Super style upgrade. It only lasted because it had to, even if some games ran poorly.. and they did.
I guarantee a Steam Deck 2 or whatever in a year or two will perform quite a lot better than Switch 2 in these demanding games. But people go on and on about console optimization as if it’s magic, if the game is already decently optimized then it’s not going to matter, it’s all about the hardware.
This system will last as long as Nintendo needs to milk it for all it’s worth, it doesn’t mean to say all multiplats will run well or even at all.
I feel like if a steam deck 2 came out, it wouldn’t compete that well with the switch 2 for multiple reasons
(1) the price: the steam deck 2 would likely be over 1000$ dollars. I mean the oled is 700$ right now, so a steam deck 2 would be way more then that with the future of ram shortages.
(2) the market: the steam deck 2 would only really appeal to pc gamers. The switch 2 appeals more towards the casual audience. Seeing how the original switch sold 155 million units, I bet people who own one who haven’t gotten a switch 2 yet would rather get that then get a steam deck 2.
Here’s the thing, I like the steam deck. Even though I don’t own one, I love the idea of it. I feel like the steam deck 2 would do well, but it wouldn’t take away from the switch 2 success. The original steam deck sold 5 million units, so I don’t really think a steam deck 2 would do that much to shake up the market.
Was waiting for this to get announced. I’ll probably play this while I’m in bed. I hope it gets a performance mode though; 60fps at 780p would be fine imo
Anyone who finds such an FPS cap still acceptable, yeah, you really don’t know much. You are the Switch 2 demographic. Very easily appeased by mediocrity.
What’s with all the haters posting in these comments? lol go play on your high end pcs or ps5s, stop letting those of us that enjoy the switch 2 live rent free in your heads 😂
