Dragon Prince co-creator joins the Overwatch team reigniting hopes for animation

Justin Richmond who created Netflix’s The Dragon Prince animated show has joined the Overwatch team. This has led to speculation that Activison-Blizzard is planning an Overwatch-themed animated show which has long been requested by the fan-base in an effort to expand the well regarded IP. Here’s what Mr. Richmond had to say on Linkedin:

“My very first BlizzCon was when Overwatch was first announced, and I instantly fell in love with the world and the game. I looped through the line over and over to play the demo as many times as possible, constantly getting my ass kicked trying to learn Tracer.

Hopefully I can get some lessons, because today I’m excited to announce that I have joined the Overwatch Team as the new Franchise Creative Director. I can’t wait to contribute to the next era of Overwatch! This is a huge year for both Blizzard and the game, and I’m thrilled to be on board for the ride.

Hope I see you at BlizzCon this year!”

  1. That’s hype. Overwatch has some really great characters, fingers crossed this is a full fledged series and not some reveal trailer for just a new hero

  2. Ew no! Alsp does this mean Wonderstorm is out of business now? They lost Netflix funding so don’t see a future for them and Dragon Prince was awful despite what people say. Surprised before closures that Sony didn’t buy them former Naughty Dog staff work there.

    1. Dragon Prince was bad on multiple levels especially wokeness that the cranked to 11 making in unbearable no one is going to tell me those guts would have made Korra better or the Avatar animated movie that staff is just brain rotted by woke California millennial mind virus.
