VGC’s Jordan Middler has hinted that the beloved The Simpsons: Hit And Run is in development at Activision. Fans have been clamouring for the game to be remade for modern consoles and when Middler finished the podcast he signed off by saying that the crew is going to “hit and run” out of there. Here’s what he said:
I think Activision’s next step, and they’re doing this with one very significant one, is to try and bring back some more of that licensed stuff, like make new versions of those licensed games. The one that everyone is absolutely desperate for is happening. – Jordan Middler

Yeah, I don’t think we’ll ever see Road Rage again after the lawsuit that Sega filed which claimed it was a blatant copycat of their own Crazy Taxi.

Sony is all in on GenAI and pretty much all every game and company are too. Sega, Capcom, Square Enix, NetEase, Tencent, Epic, Ubisoft, EA, Bandai Namco, Take2, all the other China games, Expedition 33, and you’d be dumb to think this won’t use AI it’s Activision I’m pretty sure they already use AI. Also this is a GTA clone not Crazy Taxi. I hope they do use AI so we get it sooner also could use it to remaster audio and redo cutscenes in 2D animation. AI does 2D animation better than animators look how bad Regular Show Lost Tapes is because the animators use flash or Toon Boom and can’t do that level of animation anymore because they relied on outsourcing so much.
Hopefully happens and it’s cel shaded like The Simpsons game on Xbox 360. Honestly some others that need remakes Tony Hawk Underground 1+2, True Crime NYC, and Prototype just bring Vicarious Visions back to handle these also other old Xbox IP Crash. Spyro, Conker, Banjo, Jet Force Gemini, Kameo, Fuzion Frenzy, Mech Assault, Phantom Dust, Brute Force, Crimson Skies, Magatama, Tenchu, Blinx, etc.

If they are doing licensed games again I would have loved to see DC games from them but with WB seemingly wanting to keep that in house maybe they can get the Image stuff make a open world third person Spawn game, open world third person The Darkness game finally, go Ultimate Alliance style games with Cyberforce, YoungBlood, and Hunter Killers, maybe a Aphrodite 9 game. Just talk to Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, and Marc Silvestri make it happen. Firebreather and Haunt too. Then there’s a ton of Spider-Man games to remake Friend Or Foe, Ultimate Spider-Man, Web Of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions, Edge Of Time, the Raimi games especially 2. Deadpool also.

The problem that they’re going to have with this is obvious, it’s going to be made with current times in mind, meaning:
*No original Apu voice, & others.
*Certain gags will probably be altered or removed to cater to the woke as well.
*The voice lines will likely be recorded fresh, so some of it won’t sound as good, Homer’s voice actor was better when he did the higher pitched voice.
With all that said, if they do It right it could still be good. But they would have to add more missions and side stuff.. a simple 1:1 remake would be fine, but even the original could have done with more missions.
