A new Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves rumour is floating around the internet which suggests that the next mainline Pokemon game could feature a staggering 300 new Pokemon. While it sounds a little far fetched, Centro Leaks has spoken to its sources and have heard similar information about the number of new Pokemon set to appear in Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves.
- The games will have the highest amount of new Pokémon ever in a Pokémon game.
- The number that is being talked about is around 300 new Pokémon / forms.
- The new battle mechanic will introduce special weather forms for some Pokémon (think Megas / Gigantamax).

Yes, we know. That’s why we were hesitant from posting this, however since this information came to light we have been able to independently verify with other sources and they have heard similar information about the high number of new Pokémon.
So yeah, take it with a grain of salt, however we’re confident enough in this information to post it. Treat it as a RUMOR for now, we will continue seeking verification of this information and update you as we know more.

The rumor’s probably not even true but if does end up being true, I’m sure the small studio used it to help their workload. Of course, I’m not saying they are AI generating all the artwork and stuff but it probably helped them conceptualize more new designs.
Oh man, this could be so interesting. Would fans disown Pokemon for using AI? Or will they end being the first big company to normalize it? It would be so great to watch the fallout.

Using ai for inspiration is not bad it’s the blindly letting ai design that people have a problem with.
They have been doing this for almost 30 years and you really think they don’t have a massive backlog of non finished or cancelled pokemon?

It’s not trolling to point out the obvious. 300 new Pokemon in one generation? With generative AI out now? And the TCG popping off bigger than ever? More Pokemon = More cards to print.
The only other explanation is if Game Freak hired a lot of new staff in the past year.

I’m just speculating on this rumor of there being 300 new Pokemon this gen and suggesting that generative AI could have likely been used to achieve this unprecedented addition. Either that or they hired more staff (which would be great imo).
Though while I could see why you think gen ai might be used in this situation. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they would given the pushback on its use. hell even the guy posting this doesn’t think this would actually happen in the first place
I mean, I don’t think the rumor is true. 300 new Pokemon seems way too ambitious for Game Freak, even if they started using gen AI.
But as far as I’m aware, they’ve never denounced gen AI or said they’d never use it so it also wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve adopted it to keep the machine going.
Side note: If I’m a “well known troll”, then why aren’t I banned? I’ve used the same login for years. Seems like it’d be pretty easy to ban me if I’m a menace.

Nah, Sickr seems to do a good job removing trolls. There’s just not much he can do when they are using dummy logins.

If AI is what it takes to produce a good Pokémon game at this point I’ll take it. This series has been a dumpster fire for 5 generations with only a couple moments of quality in all that time. Legends, Omega, Let’s Go is a short list.
