It has been revealed that the Baten Kaitos remaster developer, Logicalbeat, were the team that helped out with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. The team implemented 4K visuals and a 60fps framerate, though the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition wasn’t without its flaws as pointed out by many on social media. Here’s what Yoshiki Domae, the representative director of Logicalbeat, had to say on X.
Publishing an accomplishment from my company, logicalbeat!
We were involved in cooperating with the support of 4K & 60fps for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
Thank you
I myself also replayed it from the beginning. The Ether Jet also feels so good.

It was you! Hopefully Nintendo ditches them and uses the studios that made the other nintendo upgrade packs. But I will give them this, the new content was a pretty cool addition.
What issues did it end up having?
Oh, I read this as Xenoblade Chronicles X instead of Xenobalde Chronicles. The switch 2 version of X was pretty rough with the upscaler, but the xenoblade chronicles switch 2 edition was pretty good, it didn’t have the horrible upscaler.
Oh. The article alludes to complaints fans had and I was curious. I haven’t really seen anything about the Switch 2 edition of XC1
That’s a bit mean. Everyone has to “start” somewhere, and while they didn’t start here with monolith-soft work, they started with Baten Kaitos 1&2 HD which is something that logically would never exist as it’s an undeservedly non-established IP released on a console that didn’t sell… 20 years ago. We’re super lucky it was done and judging for how much the budget must have been they did a stellar job of both updating all assets they could, including 3D models, updating menus. On top of all that and despite abysmal sales they also did post-launch patches on both switch 1 and PC fixing all they could. They like the games and they work their asses of. This is a small developer that both deserves the work, getting paid for it and hopefully grow a bit. I just don’t think for a 4K update that they had to employ a studio and make a new SKU of an existing game, but alas this is true for all upgrade packs. I won’t buy this but wish them the best. And at least they tried adding a new mode to the game too.
Perhaps they’ll do Xenogears next.
