The Duskbloods director Hidetaka Miyazaki has recently spoken to The Verge about the promising upcoming multiplayer exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mr. Miyazaki confirmed that The Duskbloods was originally in development for the original Nintendo Switch in 2021, which as you could imagine, proved to be a very steep challenge for the development team. Mr. Miyazaki says that he and the rest of the team were “definitely very happy” when the Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled by Nintendo as the game’s full potential could finally be realised on the more powerful hardware.
The Duskbloods started life on Switch in 2021 and team were “very happy” with Switch 2 reveal

Is there even a Switch 2 exclusive yet that didn’t start as a switch game?
Splatoon raiders, Kirby air riders, Star fox, Yoshi, and Mario tennis I think were all intended for the switch 2. But it’s weird that 3 games were originally planned to be on the switch but changed courses in 2021 to be on the switch 2.
I could have seen Bananza and maybe MKW on the original switch, but I can’t really vision Duskbloods on the original switch. It just seems too intensive to run well on that console.
It is very likely that the development was restarted from scratch; it wouldn’t be the first game… a well-known example was Resident Evil 0: when it moved from the N64 to the GC, it wasn’t just a gap between the two versions but a whole galaxy.
If the Yoshi Book devs were worried about the Switch performance, FromSoft must have been performing rituals to the unknown just to get something running
