The Legend of Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma, has hinted to Game Informer that the next Zelda game for the Nintendo 3DS will be reliant on 3D to offer a brand new gameplay experience to players.
Aonuma said that he expects to be able to do something “very interesting” on the system. He gave me one highly suggestive hint, leading me to believe that the team is further along than just thinking about the new title: “It will be a game in which having 3D will mean something.”
I cant wait to see what they have in store for us! Puzzles involving 3D? I’m in!

I’m sure that like Mario 3D Land, it’s not going to be “You can’t play in 2D!” but that 3D will just heighten the experience for those. Sorry for your loss and all but I welcome their experimentation with something that until now has been considered a gimmick.
Yeah, I know that one of Nintendo’s requirements for games is it cannot rely on 3D, that it has to be 100% playable in 2d as well. So it may be enhanced or have a system that uses it in a cool way, but you’ll be able to do the same thing maybe in a different way in 2D.
I never play on my 3DS on 3D. the 3D is just an add on.
I only bought the 3DS for the graphics and games. I only have 3D on 5% of the time.

Given how they’ve shown how well 3D can work, or at least they will to the general public soon, with Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, I can only expect good things from Nintendo showing off their own hardware on what’s probably their franchise most geared towards the hardcore audience. This might finally show us what the hardcore can REALLY get out of the 3DS and push third party publishers to do the same.
Finally, talk of the next handheld Zelda, can’t wait!

You guys are funny. Why not both? Why do you always talk about remakes OR new games? They can do both and that’s what I want.
You do know that the remake was not done by Nintendo right? If you don’t like it, don’t buy them.
A Majora’s mask remake is something I would buy instantly. I just don’t want something that will have lower quality, like the DS ones.
I’ve had enough of Movie and Game remakes. Seriously. Star fox 64, MGS, Zelda. Really it’s to much if you want to know how many Movies there remaking now just look at the below link. “Remakes” however, is the wrong word to use when referring to the Nintendo games. They’re not “remakes”, they’re Re-Imagined. Re-Born. Re-Visited in glorious 3D. OoT on the Wii VC was a remake of OoT on the 64. Same for Starfox 64. I got Starfox 64 3D. That game blows my mind and I’ve beaten the original hundreds of times. New games are coming, but don’t refer to classics as “remakes”, especially if you haven’t played them…
there’s lots of reason the OoT and starfox are more then simple remakes besides there doing remakes and making new games so chill
Can’t wait to see what Nintendo will pull off in true 3D. Not to Ocarina of Time was not great in 3D, but that was more for show than it was for gameplay. While a new 3D Zelda will be awesome, I would like to see a Majora’s Mask 3D made for the 3DS. However, before a few of you start trolling, please keep in mind that I only want Majora’s Mask to be redone in 3D and not other Zelda titles.

IMO, I think they should redo a 2D Zelda and make that one have a harder mode. I’m most interested to see what they will do to the 2 NES ones on the ambassador program.
I think a Wind Waker or Twilight Princess port would be good, I would love to have those two games portable.
I would like to see Majora’s Mask remade for the 3DS too :) but yes, that is all they need, none of the other ones, just Majora’s Mask.

and spirit tracks, the games were fun to start out because they were zelda games but about halfway through the gimmicks took too much of a toll on me
All I hope for is that we’ll be able to guide Link with the Circle Pad as opposed to the Stylus.

The thing hat got to me about Spirit Tracks was the third(or fourth?) time you have to learn a flute song to get into the temple. No matter how many times I tried, I could never get past that part, so I gave up on Spirit Tracks.

This would be Nintendo’s chance to show how great the 3D is on the 3DS as well as how much it has improved. Since it launched the 3D hasn’t been utilized to it’s full extent. Another thing……..Sooooo much Zeldaaaaaa I love ittttt.

I hope it doesn’t rely too heavily on 3d to the point where it’s a gimmick. It should be worked seamlessly like the wii controls were in TW on wii. Also, a new zelda should be the priority over majora’s mask. That game never really appealed to me. Difficult to get anything substantial done before it was time to rewind time.

a WHOLE different company ported ocarina of time over to the 3ds. they would be the ones to make majoras mask and therefore this company can get started on a original 3ds game. although, i dont know if id rather they start working on a 3ds or wii u game

Here’s an idea: How about they make a realistic Zelda in HD on Wii U and a cel-shaded one on 3DS. They should both be compatible with one another and possible Skyward Sword. This way fans can enjoy both art styles together. Now the 3D aspects of Zelda will kick butt. I have faith in you Eiji!
