Sega has recently renewed the trademark for its highly regarded Skies of Arcadia which came out on the Dreamcast and the Gamecube. The most likely reason for this renewal is that Sega is working on an HD remaster to join the likes of NiGHTS, Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure 2. Sega is apparently preparing a number of digital games for Wii U.
Please let this be a Hd skies of Arcadia game!

I get what you’re saying, but HD is the new standard definition, the arguement of HD doesnt matter is pointless now. Obviously the gamepad doesnt have it, but only because its not nesseccary, due to its smaller screen size, the pixels are small, no need for HD. You dont argue 1080p is pointless, because really, it is, unless you have a pretty big tv, 720p is fine, although most tvs run 1080p anyway.

It’s just that people tend to value seeing the next instalment of Nintendos franchises as being HD over anything else. Like everywhere we hear people just wanting it in HD, what about other stuff that next gen power can do? What about ‘I cant wait to see the next Zelda with bigger more expansive worlds and more engaging gameplay!”, but no it’s “I can’t wait to see the next Zelda in HD!”

Oh, no doubt i prefer to imagine HOW the game is gona be played, when i think of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Star Fox, all the franchises using the gamepad,it does get me pumped for the system more, but at the same time, its incredibly exciting to wait and see what a HD Nintendo game will look like, running on tech better than the ps3, and Nintendo really know how to push the boundrieswhen i comes to using a consoles hardware to the fullest, so that in itself is something i look forward. I meant look at the Zelda WiiU video from E3 2011. That was gorgeous.
Yeah I agree, I do want to see the games in HD, it will be cool, it’s just that people are focusing far too much on it IMO

It is a shame that gamers put HD priority over gameplay and content. HD IS nice granted, but more gamers should place gameplay experience priority over HD and HD over graphics.
That’s twisting it a little. No one is really prioritizing HD over gameplay, it’s just that it’s regarded as a standard now. Like with youtube videos, you’d expect 320p as the bare minimum and not 240p, regardless of the video content.
That and 3D games just don’t age as well as 2D games. Great graphics aren’t a must perhaps, but bad 3D graphics can be a major turnoff even when the gameplay is fine. HD can give these games a new lease of life.
I understand its just from what iv seen and from what people have told me, its like they’re putting gameplay on the wayside, the backburner.

arcadia has aged really badly. It really needs a facelift. OOT had the treatment (not HD obviously)
HD is also a norm now in gaming. whether its 720p or 1080p. Nintendo wont capture the hardcore market if they have games at 480p on big HD Ready TVS. I got fed up with blurry games.

Visuals are important. Gimmicky gamePad comes second. Motion gaming killed it for me when I played Skyward Sword. Never finished it and cba to do either.
No nintendo games before Wii focused on the controller that much. Wind waker played perfectly using a TRADITIONAL controller.
How was skyward sword gimmicky its a matter of opinion I think it made the game more enjoyable and immersed me more in the game

I can aswer your question: The human being is a creature of habits, so when he sees that something new is better than before he doesn’t want to go back, in the case of HD, since is still something new “to see” people is “still exited” about how HD looks, until we all get used to it in the many years to come… I imagine this like when color TVs were out many years before, people wouldn’t care about nothing less but to see the picture in colors!!… get it???

Is gameplay all you care about? Its not the 80′s anymore, HD is the new standard. There should be a balance between both graphics and gameplay. Lacking in one area to overcompensate the other doesn’t fix the problem. You’re just as bad as the people you bitch about.

Well never mind.
Everyone has always cared about graphics, even since the first NES. People were talking about its 8-bit graphics and how the games looked better than on the Atari 2600. Then SEGA released Genesis and said it’s better than the NES with 16-bit and so it continued.
The thing with graphics is that people want to play a game as well as look at it in a sort of “movie”-perspective. If Nintendo went with HD for the Wii, then you wouldn’t complain since you would have experienced good graphics for a while now. The 360 and PS3 both have HD which is why the gamers there have gotten used to it. Let’s see if you still don’t care about good graphics when the Wii U comes out.
Just because games have good gameplay doesn’t mean they can’t also have good graphics which would enhance the experience.
Of course, it’s just why is that the most important thing to most people about the advances in hardware. Think about, more immersive controls/gameplay, larger more open worlds, more areas to explore ect.

There’s one flaw in your logic. Digital sales are not poor. Far from it. Just go look at Steam sales numbers or even Nintendo eShop sales numbers. Digital distribution is where we’re headed as a gaming community. Embrace it.
In comparison to physical, theyre poor, for console games. Lets face it, if someones a PC gamer, they have internet connection, no doubt, and probably a very good one. And the insentive of Steam, and the fact you can have a gigantic harddrive in your PC makes digital very appealing on the PC. But for consoles, its nowhere near to that point yet. Dont get me wrong, i buy digital on my ps3, and download the games that i get free from PSN+, bot to mention indie and smaller online only games, but the vast majority of console gamers buy physical. Im not say digital should die out, but i needs to be 50:50, if you get rid of physical, game sales will go down, and its the same with digital
Just because digital distribution isn’t doing as well as physical distribution right now doesn’t mean that digital distribution isn’t doing well in general. Physical distribution has been on the decline for a while now and digital distribution has shown that it is going nowhere but up. I’m not saying physical distribution will die out, but it will eventually take a back seat.

No, but it could be comparable to a gamecube. But the 3DS is made in a way that it can handle Wii/WiiU game engines, like how 3D Land is the Mario Galaxy engine, and im sure Kid Icarus probably uses a base engine for Smash Bros.

Well it wasnt exactly, ot was much more sophiticated and refined. One thing you need to remember is the size of the game cartridge too, you wont be able to say, have Mario Galaxy on the 3DS, because even though it could run the game at a smaller scale, the cartridge storage is too small.
Look at the shaders from Super Mario galaxy and compare it to any Mario on the gamecube and tell me its the same
I dont think the gamecube could do all the planet rotation as well either or the camera, but im not too sure

Even at launch, definitely,look at Mario 64DS. Im actually surprised they didnt put ZeldaOoTon the DS to begin with. But yeah, the current forst party 3DS games “look” like Wii games, just not as big, or as detailed. It’ll be interesting to see how Smash Bros 3DS look, whether it uses Brawls engine, which is what Kid Icarus was based on or more likely the SSBU engine, but obviously,not as pretty haha

nah , the 3ds is way better than gamecube graphics. the screen resoloution is what hold’s it back. because the pixles are in your face.
resident evil revelations , kid icarus uprising even Kingdom hearts DDD look not only better than anything on the gamecube , but better than anything on the xbox 1 or wii . not only this , but they are displayed in framerate cpu RAM sapping stereoscopic 3d.
in other words , the 3ds’s graphics are ahead of xbox 1 and wii and it displays that in 3d. its quite powerfull for a handheld.
the under estimated 400mhz GPU and its 128mb RAM put it ahead of all the consoles i mentioned .
Resident evil Revelations , looks somewhere between wii and 360 graphics. probably a bit closer to the wii .
but wow the snow level on resi rev is mind fuckingly pretty . the detailed faces , particle effect’s , fog effect’s bump mapping etc etc look so much better than resi 4 and better than any wii game .
verdict 3ds is like a turbo charged 3d wii .
yes , the 3ds IS A LOT MORE POWERFULL THAN THE WII. it has a 400mhz GPU which is just below the 360′s 500mhz gpu . it has 128mb of RAM which is twice as much as the wii’s 64mb RAM. it doesnt require as big a cpu as wii because of screen size etc etc .
overall the 3ds’s graphics at max potential are considerably nicer than the wii , see resident evil revelations for proof. so not only does the 3ds have potential to completely out peform the wii it displays this level of graphics in stereoscopic 3d.
in other words the wii is know where near strong enough to display its games in 3d. the framerate would sieze up .
the wii couldnt even run RESI REV in 2d . the 3ds can RUN it in 3D no problem.
Answer – with diferent Architecture’s that are hard to interprit , the 3ds can completely out peform the wii in stereoscopic 3 dimension’s.
not much better graphics , barely noticeable . but games like starfox and resident evil are full of bumb mapped reflective surfaces that rarely exist on the wii .

the 3ds’s is more capable than the wii. fact. especialy considering its 3d capabilities.
3d land runs on the same engine as galaxy. and looks just as good.

Tbh, i have Sonic Adventure in HD. Not that great. Unless they did an entire remastering of the game, it wouldnt look much better than you remember. I believe Sonic Adventure 2 is getting a full makeover, to some degree, HD, widescreen, and improved graphics, so unless they do that, its not too much of a big deal. Obviously i would prefer a new SOA game
A new Skies of Arcadia game? From modern Sega? I’ll pass. I’m more than happy with an HD Skies of Arcadia remake so long as it’s for anything other than iOS. We just have to hope Sega doesn’t make the same horrible mistake both Capcom and Square Enix have.
I didn’t say HD was bad. It’s just that to many people are focusing on HD rather than the game play. Nintendo always pad a lot of attention on the gameplay rather than graphics. I really like that nintendo making thier games in HD, but I don’t them to get to caught on it. So no there’s nothing wrong with me.

I really hope they release a new Skies of Arcadia game for Wii U. I loved the one on the GameCube. This is what I want to see, more RPGs on Nintendo new console. Leave luck to heaven.
Something worth noting is that there is a stage based on Skies of Arcadia in their upcoming game, Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed.
I think it has more to do with that then an HD remake.
