Wii U Pro Controller To Cost $49.99 In North America

Although Wii U GamePads will not be sold as standalone products in North American retailers, consumers can purchase a Wii U Pro Controller for $49.99 as it will not be included in any of the two Wii U bundles. The Wii U Pro Controller will launch alongside the Wii U console in North America on November 18th.

    1. Oh man already pre ordered the console + 2 pro controllers for my kids
and i’m looking forward for Bayonetta 2.
      Together Wii U.

  1. I don’t know if this has been answered yet, but will the Wii U Pro be backwards compatible with Wii titles that allow for the Classic Controller? I’d really like to play Xenoblade w/ this.

        1. not really… lol. it’s basically used for the same purpose, but is cheaper… i i dont really get the “HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF GOD THAT’S EXPENSIVE!?!?!?” when it’s cheaper than a similar controller.

          1. The 360 controller is…balls, anyway. Yeah its comfortable but everything else with it is just wrong, shitty buttons, and that POS DPAD

          2. Actually it is irrelevant. He probably has no interest in the 360, therefore he doesn’t have to deal with a 360 controller which run from $30-60 bucks. Its 38.99 on Amazon right now.

            1. ugh. why do i have to explain simple concepts to people? when there is already a similar product out, that has been set at a price that most people have accepted, it’s irrational to get mad about the price of an almost identical controller being sold at a lower price. it’s not fucking rocket science, and yes it is 100% relevant.

    1. Rayman, NSMBU, Darksiders 2, AC3, Black Ops 2, Mass Effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, probably most of them, but everything else will use the gamepad, or motion+ like pikmin 3.

Im getting one just for stuff like Rayman, Ninja Gaiden 3, NSMBU, just because i the gamepad isnt neccessary as much or i dont want to use a wiimote on its sidd

    1. At GAME (UK), theyre doing a £350 Premium bundle with ZombiU and this controller, with is like £90-100 if i got them separately.

  2. Cool cause I won’t get a Wii U until I can afford the Deluxe, This, Pikmin 3, Rayman, and Mario U. Along with a card for the shop.

    1. Wireless, and it looks like it has a cable. definitely Rumble, but I think the other two functions are only on remotes and gamepad.
Limited motion control would be pretty good, though.

    1. As far as I know, BO2 will being using the Wii U Pro (and WiiMote + Nunchuk, CCP, and the Gamepad). The Gamepad does in fact rumble.

  3. I’d like to assume these come with the charger cable? Other $50 a little steep (not terrible).
I think I have an extra mini-USB cord, so I think I’m good either way.

  5. Looks like I’ll be spending at least $500 this November. $350 for deluxe $50 for controller and FIFA 13 and zombie u or cod

  6. That’s reasonable. No complaints from me, but I’m pretty content with gamepad though. The only time I’ll switch to the pro controller is when I’m playin a gamecube game xD

    1. Not to me, i’ll be using it in co-op games like Rayman, NSMBU, Black Ops 2, then with games like Ninja Gaiden 3, and of course when its released, Smash Bros :p

      1. Same here. Plus so when someone wants to play with me I will be ready. In other words I want my body to be ready when I get a Wii U.

  7. I’m loving what nintendo’s doing with the wii u. Reminds me of their glory days with the NES. It supports two of its revolutionary gamepads, has multiple other control options and is much more of an “entertainment system”, not just a video game system, than anything they’ve done before. Will be getting this.

  8. If you dont want to spend 50 bucks on this controller, just wait thy will prob have special edition games where they include it in there, just like Goldeneye, Monster Hunter Tri, and Xenoblade.

    1. I’m going to wait 50 bucks for a contoller is kinda expensive, I mean wii’s pro controller was 20 bucks, I did not expect the Wii U’s pro controller to be 20, more like 30 or possibly 40.

      1. This has rumble lawl. The Wii Pro controller was more like an extension… It was so cheap because it was basically plastic… You needed a $50 controller to use it.
