Wii U Is “Surprisingly Easy” To Develop For

Vigil lead designer Haydn Dalton says that Wii U is actually surprisingly easy to develop for. Dalton claims that technically Wii U is one of the easiest platforms out of the three to work with. He went on to say that porting Darksiders 2 to the console was a quick and painless process. Darksiders 2 is a Wii U launch title, and is therefore due to be released in North America on November 18th.

“Technically, it’s one of the easier platforms to develop for. We had our core game up and running on it in a very short amount of time. There were no major problems for us developing the Wii U version, other than making sure we had a dedicated team to do it justice. For a new platform, it was surprisingly easy to port it to the Wii U.”

      1. First, detach yourself from your family and friends. Secondly, set this website as your browser homepage. And finally, stay on the site 24/7 waiting for the latest news update. When you see one without any replies, strike like a cobra!

          1. if blockbuster is going to have wii u games, since i just have there membershi[ thing, i’ll probably only buy mario u and zombi u and have nintendo land with the console. this game will definately be one that i’ll rent though

      1. No, Skyrim. Programming team so stupid they cant even put DLC on a ps3 (allegedly). Not to mention the abundance of glitches. I literally got one at the BEGINING, where i left through the textures and had to reinstall the game.

Fallout 3 was better, but it froze all the time.

I havent heard of any Dishonored glitches, and i didnt have any. Probably because Arkane Studios are actually talented.

Its a shame because Fallout and TES are amazing.

          1. Dont get me wrong, Skyrim is incredible, but the glitches are just a joke, from a minor yet pain in the ass inconvenience like lags, infinite loading screens, that require you to quit or reboot the console, to literally the entire game fucking up and having the light blue base texture flicker around over EVERYTHING.

      2. The point was basically a company thats not even close to being as popular as Bethesda, or as experienced, finding it really easy to program a game fully in a few months with a team of 3 people, for a console thats not even out yet, and people still want to say it’ll be difficult to make games on to the WiiU.

No excuse. Its Laziness, favouritism to a company that throws money at you, or just poor staff, or a combination of the 3

  1. Very good news. This means Wii U can see a lot of 3rd party support in the future. By next year Wii U should be getting all of the multi-plats. Leave luck to heaven.

  2. This is indeed good news. This means that nintendo maybe gonna be the lead platform for multi-plats games. Nintendo is doing good stuff with the wii u!!

      1. It’s been reported on by this site at least twice before, albeit from different developers but the same information. We know Wii U is easy to develop for, we don’t need to hear it again and again.

        1. Lol people bitch about lack of news. Then bitch about the news that is given for being “reported already”(even though its a different development team saying it.) . It’s like you guys are fucking five years old I swear XD

          1. I never bitch about lack of news. But I’ll complain about sites that recycle material, it’s lazy and uninteresting.

    1. You would know.
Trolls are more addicted to MyNintendoNews than Nintendo fans. They can’t get enough Nintendo hype.
You’re life would be so empty without Nintendo. No one to bitch at. Awwwww

      1. He’s not trolling and he hjas a valid point, I remember this exact same thing being said.
Besides, people like you are why the trolls stick around. Even if you replay to them with an insult, you’ve still lost.

  3. You know what I just noticed?! The starman theme from the Mario series sounds A LOT like the Zelda’s lullaby. I’m sorry for being off topic but this is just crazy!
Anyway, The Wii U is both strong and easy to use thats always good to hear.

      1. I’m not sold on that yet.
I face palmed when he just pulled out a gun and Max Payned everyone, it was like, whats the point in sneaking around and hacking stuff if you can just do that?

            1. Yeah, but he was like the Terminator. His character basically has no limits, which just makes it boring, and gives no space to have set game mechanics. Oh i need to sneak in there? Oh they saw, shit, oh well, *bang bang bang* mission complete.

It breaks the central focus of the game. And if its not going to be like that, and its going to restrict when and how you play, then thats just ridiculous.

              1. For example, Dishonored. You have ALOT of option on how to play. But you can run and gun, because you’re quite fragile, you have limited ammunition. But because the games designed like that, you think more, you plan your attack, be patient, choose which way to go, not to mention the lethal and non lethal, and no alert playthroughs. It keeps a set game mechanic, and because of it, you play how it was designed, and enjoy it more.

Watch Dogs could basically turn out to be, GTA with some hacking stuff.
I dont want that, and it stops it being unique and memorable.

  4. A game in which the lead platform was the PC, it’s no surprise. Even if it was the 360, it shouldn’t be a problem porting it to Wii U. Now if it was ported from the PS3, then you’ll get the whole Japanese developers issue (the one’s who are having trouble with the Wii U CPU due to it’s lower clock….and sheer laziness on their parts).
