Kickstarter Funded Lobodestroyo Will Be Coming To Wii U

Lobodestroyo – a Rareware inspired 3D action game – will be jumping onto the Wii U eShop in the near future. Developed by Lefthanded Studios, Lobodestroyo has successfully reached its funding goal on Kickstarter, raising just over its initial target of $35,000.

The collect-a-thon action game places you in the role of Mutt – an unlikely hero tasked with a great adventure – and transports you to 9 fun-filled, unique worlds. Aiming to whisk your heart away and back to the N64 era, Lobodestroyo gives players Mega Man inspired boss battles, where defeating such enemies allows you to upgrade existing powers and gain new abilities.

Lefthanded Studios has built the world of Lobodestroyo by using game engine Unity, and recently became official Nintendo developers. During their Kickstarter campaign, they bumped the Wii U platform from its initial stretch goal into their main funding goal due to the overwhelming support from Nintendo fans. The game’s tentative launch date is set for late 2014 or early 2015 for PC, Mac, Linux, Ouya and the Wii U eShop. Let us know your thoughts on the game and its trailer – posted above – in the comments below.

Thanks, Jay.

  1. Best news today. I had follow the game and the Kickstarter page and I’m so glad they reach the funding goal. I will download this the first day!!!. YEAH!!!

  2. Well we need more games for Wii U to be honest, so anything would be good, and unlike things such as Fifa 14 it won’t be shovelware.

  3. ALl these kickstarter projects and indie games are great, but i notice the trend that they come in somewhere mid-late 2014 or 2015 mostly. The thing is will the WiiU even exist in 2015?..

    1. The Wii U isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Even if it keeps selling this bad, it’ll be around. While I’m a bit surprised Mario 3D World hasn’t sold more than it has, I would expect at the very least, Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros to move a lot of consoles. E3 could also be a big boost, if they have playable demos of “X”, Yarn Yoshi, and show off Zelda. This will literally be the “make it or break it” year for the Wii U, soon as 2014 kicks off.

  4. Those graphics and such, were all placeholders, just to demonstrate the purpose of the game. It’ll likely look much better once it’s released.

  5. Even the developers are British, just like Rare. That makes Lobodestroyo an authentic N64-style collect-a-thon platforming game. Haha
