Nintendo UK has revealed to MCV that their flagship Wii U title Mario Kart 8 will have a year-long marketing campaign. The first step is a social media programme which is designed to get gamers nostalgic about classic Mario Kart games. This will then lead up to a full-blown online and TV marketing campaign that will run till the end of the year.

Exactly. Nintendo of Europe isn’t stupid. They know by marketing one that they market the other since there is a bundle of Mario Kart 8 & Wii U, for Christ’s sake. In fact, Mario Kart 8 most likely comes with the Wii U for free if they do these bundles in the same fashion as the United States.
The Wii U actually got heavily advertised during launch week. I saw those dubstep Wii U commercials at least 3 times a day back then. Wii U didn’t really have anything back then, but now it’s got a good amount. But um… I haven’t seen a WWHD commercial, a Sonic Lost World commercial, or a 3D World commercial at all yet. 2014 is basically the year of Wii U. The wait for big games is finally coming to an end starting with MK8. If Nintendo doesn’t advertise this year, then they’ve screwed up the Wii U.

3DS Smash is more than acceptable in the summer, because both versions will have differences worth nabbing them for, and putting out the 3DS version will give us a taster of what’s to come in the Wii U version, except for the fact that the Wii U version will obviously have better online stability thanks to being able to connect to wired internet.

In 1996, Nintendo’s coming with the Nintendo 64 and it was the most powerfull console during this generation and it fails.
In 2002, they learned all the mistakes they had doing and come back with certainly one of the best home console = the Nintendo Gamecube and it f**king failed ! That was a great console with certainly the best exclusives and it failed ! Nintendo was one of the best and the people dening that.
And in 2007, they came back witj the Wii and it’s the most selling home console of all générations just behind the PS2.

In 1998-99, Sega want to repair all the mistakes they had do by the past and come with the Dreamcast. That console was just amazing in that time and with a lower price than the PS2. And it f***ing failed….

There is more to power than just graphics. Graphics wise, yes. The PS4 & Xbox One are more powerful. Then again, NFS:MWU had the PC port’s graphics. And from what I’ve heard, Project Cars has some pretty impressive graphics, too, so they aren’t that much more powerful than the Wii U with graphics. Don’t buy into the hype that the graphics from ps4 & xbox one has had a huge leap from ps3 & xbox 360 because it just isn’t true.

I’ve also been saying this for a while: it’s a stopgap system. Wii U feels like the console Nintendo is using to slowly get to terms with HD and the extended development processes.
While I do want something new and unique, I hope they go back to a more traditional controller. They need to get back ahead of the competition though. They can’t stay one step behind.

In five days the Amazing Spiderman 2 releases in stores and e-shop on the WiiU. DK is available in store and e-shop. One piece releases in July. I have a backlog of games to buy and play. The 3DS has games in droves. People just recovered from a recession so let us spend wisely.

The wii u has over a million in sales over at japan, and ps4 hasn’t broken 1 million yet there. Its both sony and nintendo there, but neither console will sell great over there since the moblie market in japan is bigger then the console, so handhelds are the main focus over there. I have a computer so I don’t need an Xbox One for computer stuff. I have a bluray player so I don’t need an Xbox One for that. I can just buy Amazon’s voice recognition thing if I want to tell my television, satellite/cable, etc what to do so I don’t need an Xbox One for that. My Wii U has motion control so I don’t need an Xbox One’s Kinect to be physically active with my video games. And the best thing of all: I don’t have to worry about any of those things blowing up on me and endangering my wife, son, or me, or it destroying my television or anything else that’s next to it.

(Only a few and small stores had the WiiU in this time) I had to explain for him. I only know WiiU because I see these news from other countries.. They are only marketing for 3Ds and its games.

Nintendo used to advertise a lot in my country, using Gradiente as a distributor and advertiser, but Nintendo gave up with this business..I remember to saw the Ocarina of Time commercial on my tv in 1998-99, it was awesome..
They only advertise now pokemon and mario for DS, and 3DS..

This is a good step in the right direction. Mario kart 7 was, in my opinion, a huge success. So it would be wise to market the game, because this game is a good representative to show what the wii u is capable of

Kinect and even Don Mattrick single handedly already did the job at crushing Xbox One sales. Its still lagging harshly even its availble in the most number of countries compare to PS4 and Wii U combined.
If they ditched that stupid ass camera and actually built a console and not some fucking DRV byproduct that explodes when struggling to run at 1080p, then its would’ve surpassed Wii U and tie with PS4 a long time ago. Ah okay. My mistake. Anyway, the Xbox One out spacing the Wii U matters little considering the Wii U is still ahead of it in sales right now. So bad sales or not, it’s still kicking the Xbox One’s sales. And if Mario Kart 8 does what everyone is hoping it does, we can wave bye to the Xbox One’s chances of outselling it as the gap between them increases.

Year of Luigi was dedicated to give Luigi the spotlight for a change because he’s always Mario’s shadow both literally and realistically when you think about it. Now Mario Kart 8 promotion is to help give Wii U a rebound it needs to sale because last year was, without doubt, a laughable year for the console.

Mario Kart 8, A game that is so motivating that even Gamestop has it plastered on all their entrance windows. It feels great that the WiiU has a high profile game that has people buying WiiUs and pre-ordering this great game. With the bundle am smiling for no reason what so ever. It is because I know people shall buy WiiUs and continue awaiting Brawl hungrily. All nintendo needs to show at e3 is Zelda WiiU and that is all she wrote :).
