    A merry Christmas year round as should be, and a very merry Nintendo new year.

    Humbleness and greatness is Nintendo. They have Amiibos selling like fresh baked goodies, 3DS still being Emperor, the WiiU selling at a profit. Nintendo software moving numbers. All They need now is Nintendo of America to start advertising and localizing great software.

    F=ma.

    All Nintendo has to do is advertise and release their Gamecube hits remastered in a gorgeous manner.

    F=ma.

  3. Decent list as always, good sales all round for all hardware and software developers, except the Xbox One anyway…

  4. The 3DS is killing it on the handheld side for Nintendo and the Wii U is killing it on the home console side for Nintendo……so in short Nintendo are killing their competition in Japan………DEAL WITH IT HATERS LMAO

  5. Xbox One = 815 …. I wonder if the Xbox sites make a news item out of this? (as this site CERTAINLY would if it was the Wii U)…..

  6. Depending what week this was, video game charts has Wii U selling 37K in Japan. 3DS is the hit console. Its cheap, it has 3D tech, it offers old school games that a lot of people would rather play. Or its a price drop.

    1. 3DS is not a console but a handheld. Aside from portability, they do not have the same specs as a console [usually a gen or 2 behind, mostly due to limited &/or costly battery tech & smaller housing], & the majority of its library is exclusive w/ plenty of retro potential. The Game Boy line, DS line, & Gamegear are handhelds. They are closed in their own category. Oddly, the reasons for playing them have more to do w/ exclusivity than portability.

      The PSP & Vita, however, ARE consoles, which happen to be portable & have a few exclusives. But they’re specs are much closer to what’s current gen in the console sector @ the time of their release. They share many multiplats w/ the traditional consoles, making portability its only major differential. But a portable console is not a handheld (the term is not meant to be taken literally).

      Speaking of which, Wii U is the only console, while PS4 & X1 are multimedia boxes closer to budget PCs. Exclusivity, custom architecture, & optimized games epitamize ‘console’. Just like 3DS, Wii U is in its own market. Likewise, Wii U games generally emphasize gameplay over a mostly audiovisual experience.

      The video game industry is just an umbrella term, as it encompasses different platforms (handheld, console, PC, mobile, & a hybrid of those). Just because it plays games does not mean it is a console.

      Alas, these charts are misleading as they’re still using the same paradigm from the 6th gen, ignoring that the 7th gen split into multimedia boxes/budget PCs, portable consoles, mobile gaming, & interactive movies.

      1. As a side note, Game & Watch & the like are also handhelds, though they do not qualify as a handheld SYSTEM like the others I mentioned (& forgot to mention the Neo Geo Pocket line) due to them playing only 1 game per device.

  7. Feel bad for whoever sees the need to buy an Xbox one in Japan , I’m guessing it’s our military stationed over there ?
