Xenoblade Chronicles X’s Script Was Written In A Year And A Half

Monolith Soft has revealed that it took at least a year and a half to finish writing the script of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Although its main story is shorter than the one in the original Xenoblade Chronicles, the upcoming Wii U game features various quests that provide stories and more depth. According to co-director Koh Kojima, a lot of the writing was done by executive director Tetsuya Takahashi.

“Come to think of it, Takahashi-san wrote a lot,” said Kojima. “I’ve worked with Takahashi-san for a long time, but this was the first time I’ve seen him write so much for a game’s plot. It was as if he was writing a novel.”

  2. I wonder how long the length of the scriptwriting was in comparison to the average modern Final Fantasy title. I’d say around the same amount of time or a bit more since they are both massive RPG’s.

  3. And that’s why I’m so anxious for this despite the somewhat shorter main story.

That just means they’ve put a boatload of content in exploring the world and learning the story that way.

      1. P.S. I meant that’s right about your comment, not about me buying the game. Just in case any haters come along and interpret it wrong.

          1. Haters are everywhere, the sole purpose of an Xbot is to find all Nintendo sites and spam hate. We should all be prepared to ignore, and not feed the enemy.

    1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Too bad people didn’t feel that way about Bravely Default’s second half. Instead, they whine about the fact they have to fight the bosses at the crystals 4 different times, and just ignore the side stories the side quests add to the game’s second half.

    1. There shouldn’t be but you never know. I watched Chuggaconroy play Xenoblade (not X) on YouTube so I don’t have to worry about that.

  4. I hope they fixed the balancing issues from the first game. If you did the side quests in the original Xenoblade you became WAYYY over-powered and it made the game too easy because of that. I skipped 95% of the side missions so I wouldn’t be over powered… A small complaint however to a near perfect game…

    1. Yeah, I pretty much skipped most. It makes the game much more harder, and consequently rewarding.

    2. Just an FYI, the most powerful boss in the game?
      Level 120.
      Your max, is 100. (IIRC)
In order to even hit it, you have to have max level, the right tokens set in your skill tree, and be using gear with the Night Vision bonus that increases accuracy at night.
You’ve gotta start at the moment it becomes night, and you must finish before sunrise.
If you can’t defeat it before the first light of day, Night Vision stops working, you become virtually unable to hit it, and thus are guaranteed to fail.

      1. You just have to have gear that has the maximum amount of slots, all slotted with Agility gems. Then you can hit him, day or night..

        1. You sure about that?
Because as far as I know, Agility only affects your chances of enemy attacks missing you, and due to how hard it hits even at max level, you’d want everyone to have at least two or three Unbeatable gems to prevent a lot of one-hit KO’s, meaning less room for Agility gems.

    3. Ridley, the Angel of Death

I was hoping they’d fix those issues with the 3D port but apparently it’s just a direct port from the Wii with only the collection mode & the window 3D being the only changes to the game. Bleh! In the words of Eddie Griffin… Well I’ll just leave it to him to say it!

  5. It annoys me that everyone says wow, “that’s a long time” but the longer it takes, the better the story will be. If it was done in a week then you have a rushed story and it will be shit. Sure, we can all think of a few examples that were written in a short time and ended up good, but there are probably so many more that sucked. In short, like vintage wine, the longer the time, the better the outcome.

    1. Nintendo Lieutenant Cereza

Its really hard for me to understand your vintage wine description. I’m 24 years old, and while normally I’m a pacifistic gentleman, there is something about consuming small quantities of alcohol that sends me into an inconsolable white hot rage. I dont even have to get drunk or buzzed. I could just be sitting in a serene field of cherry blossoms, and would spend the next hour ripping all the plants out of the ground. My father and grandfather had the same thing. Everybody’s different though. Long story short, I dont drink.

    2. Not always the case. You can spend 6 years in development and invest great stuff or you can spend 60 years in development and still come up with crappy inventment. So it’s all up to the story writer.

  6. Can’t wait to play this game. Hopefully the side stories are actually kind of interesting now unlike xenoblade where u can just scroll through the text if u want lol

  7. We already know the story. Explore planet Mira and rescue the scattered pods throughout the lands. There will be an alien threat to the colony too.

Boom, theres your story. Monolith have already spoiled that along with the world map..
