Pokemon CEO Talks About Various Pokemon Games And Future Plans

Earlier this week Tsunekazu Ishihara, Pokémon President and CEO, had an interview with the Japanese publication Famitsu. Nintendo Everything has translated the interview and revealed that he touched on various Pokémon titles and ideas for the future. When Ishihara talked about Pokémon Shuffle, that started as a download on the Nintendo 3DS and has recently been brought to smartphones, he admits it was intended to be released on both devices from the start.

Ishihara also explained how the idea of Pokkén Tournament was to create more realistic movements for Pokémon. He also said that although it’s been created by the Tekken team, they have used simple gameplay to make it easier to pick up on. Ishihara also advises that he hopes for a worldwide Spring 2016 release for the title on the Wii U, and wonders if players will practice at home to then progress on to compete in arcade tournaments.

Ishihara also divulges that the Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon title is basically a combination of its predecessors with new added features, and that developer Spike Chunsoft admitted he has never seen a Mystery Dungeon title so packed before. He describes the title as a ‘big adventure for kids’.

On the final notes, Tsunekazu Ishihara also mentioned that the Pokémon company will continue to create casual games, as it has had such high appeal. He also discussed future plans for Pokémon, even briefly mentioning the NX console whilst talking about expanding Pokémon titles with the use of Pokémon Global Link and Pokémon Bank.

It’ll be interesting to see what lies ahead for the Pokémon franchise, and what new paths they might take.

    1. No one knows as of right now. I’m guessing it may not be made at all (to focus primarily on the next Pokemon gen, which makes me happy because I didn’t enjoy Gen 6 all that much), and Gen 7 may be on its way as of now for 2016 (since it’s the big anniversary of Pokemon).

Something deeper and with higher content would be nice, a Pokemon Mmo on a console has only been begged for over the years. It’s a mistake to Not take the series in that direction in my opinion. They cant keep milking the handheld market, I feel eventually people will tire of it. The idea’s are getting stale, the state of current versions are just remakes. Something’s gonna have to give.

A full scale Pokemon Mmo, expansions based on new area’s with new content and creatures. Don’t skimp on the fans and you could have a kick ass game if done correctly.

    1. I agree. If there’s more freedom in who you could be or what you can do, then it would be amazing.

You have to admit it, at some point or another, we all have wanted to join one of the villinous teams. That could be possible in the said MMO. Or become a gym leader or even one of the elite four!

In the adventure, there may be a new region, or maybe all the regions together? Could be both? Join up with some friends and take the jorney together, or become complete rivals!

There is so much potential here that could be made. Please note, this is coming from a younger generation fan. So we do want this.

It’s coming from vet’s like myself who have played Blue version up to todays Pokemon games as well as the younger generations. People have been asking for it for years. You’re right, there’s so much flippin potential and possible ways of going about it that could lead to another major MMO game ranking with WoW. The numbers are already there, just have to make the magic happen. Expansions for new regions would allow harder content to be tackled or left be at players will. Set up base camps, start fires, battle, trade, play, act like a fool. All in one Pokemon universe.

What? Oh nothing just discussing the next major CASH COW over here…

    ||Pokemon will be consumed by us excessively once the servants of Nintendo abandon their sinking fleet……

  3. Instead of making all of these spinoff mobile games, they should make a pokemon stadium 3, or a pokemon snap 2. If there ever was a game that could show what the Wii U could do, its another pokemon snap.

Gamepad as the camera would be fucking awesome. Sadly, Game Freak & Nintendo lacks logic sometimes. Just like the WWE.

  4. Pokemon shuffle is crap, looking forward to pokken tornament, my favorite series of pokemon games is Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon xd gale of darkness if they make another Pokemon RPG game I hope it would be a sequal to that series, not casualised garbage of course and especially no exp share until the after game and add a difficulty selection

  5. Definetly excited about Pokken Tournament mostly because it’s what the fans wanted the whole time. Heck, even a Pokemon fighting fan game (Pokemon Type Wild) was made for PC. Nice to see that Super PMD will incorporate all of the other PMDs. We all know GtI wasn’t the best PMD game, so adding the better two series of PMD to it seems like it would work very well. Now all we need is another Pokemon Colosseum/ Gale of darkness type of game for Wii u and I would be fine. Still waiting for the Pokemon Z/ X 2 and Y 2 announcement.

  6. well they have something good for a change to change things up for the pokemon games but i think they will think about more for the future pokemon titles but i’m sure they will think of a good title for other pokemon games.
