Nintendo’s NX is mentioned in a recent purchase intent survey by GameStop, which wants to know if you’re going to buy the system “in the next 12 months.” Does this mean the NX will be released by the end of 2016? It would seem so based on the wording of the survey, but Nintendo has yet to confirm the possibility.

Ha ha lol nice assumptions little child my favorite game of all time is metroid fusion which I played from 2002 I got it day one until 2008 then when I got a ds lite and game shark continued to play it until 2014 then the game shark and ds lite were unusable then guess what I bought another ds lite and game shark just recently and have played it 2 weeks ago I have to fix some cheat codes and guess what when I do that I will be playing the game a lot more my fastest times are 24 minutes with 0 percent and 42 minutes with 100 percent with cheats and I will play any game on any system I like that are in the rpg, racing, fighting, action, shooting, visual novel, sports, puzzle and I’m sure other genres and sub genres of the main genres that I can’t think of right now and I’m sure if I only cared about graphics I would only game on pc with games that push a pc to its limits in each of the genres bthat i like but that’s not the case and never will be and you should know that the nx needs to be at ps4 or xbone level or higher in all categories when it comes out because you can do much more on those systems they have already in a way perfected their craft but you can be an ignorant child all you want and depending on how the nx turns out I may or may not buy it but with I’m sure another xenoblade game will be made for the system along with metroid and I’m sure many other surprises along the way I will get one but 1 or more years after release
Dude, you read into that way too much. Not once did he mention graphics. There is way more to the PS4 and Xbox One than the graphics. They both beat the Wii U in a lot of categories. I personally would like to see the NX be an improved PS4 as well. Mostly because I feel it would be the only way for 3rd party companies to actually develop their games for the NX. I hated the fact that Nintendo forced me to buy a PS4 almost a year ago so that I could actually experience franchises I wanted to experience. But now I can honestly say I’m a PlayStation lifer.

I feel you, but after observing the 3DS and Wii U there is absolutely no reason to buy a console day one. Lineup is terrible and/or small, some key functions are not available at the start, and there’s no real benefit of buying day one. I plan on waiting to buy the NX after a year or so, by then the price is likely to fall, a bundle will be available, and more games will be available. Unless Nintendo pulls the plug on the 3DS and Wii U, I’ll have plenty of games to play. And even if the plug is pulled, I have a hefty backlog to return to.
If you already have “a hefty backlog” then why do you want to add to it with even more games?
I meant there are games I have yet to buy that I wouldn’t mind playing. Some of the games are ones I’ve really wanted but haven’t got yet, while others are games I’m simply interested in. I have options if I run out of games to play.

I’m picking up both the “NX” Console & Handheld… and I am going to buy them both for 5 of my closest gaming friends. It has nothing to do with being a so called “fanboy” or the nonsensical rivalry that seems to loom over every topic about which console we prefer.
I love Nintendo.
I always have and I probably always will. Sure we all know they have made a lot of mistakes and still have much to learn about consumer (gamer) preferences. At the same time, they have given me some of my happiest memories and have been there in for me whenever I needed a companion.
The last time I was this excited about a gaming system was the announcement of the 3DS.

I guess what I am trying to say is: I have faith in Nintendo and their next console. I don’t really have any expectations on what I think it should be. It doesn’t even need to compete with the PS4 and Xbox. (Not for me anyway. For Nintendo and its future it does.)
I would like both the handheld and console to be seamless and play the same games. If it can do that, I won’t ever buy another Sony or Microsoft console again.
If it’s price is on par with current consoles and it has a nice starting lineup, maybe, but otherwise probably not.

Sorry but Miiverse is most likely going to be a given. Of course, it’d be nice if the NX’s Miiverse is what Wii U’s Miiverse was at the beginning of it’s life but even better than that. It wasn’t til a year or so later that Miiverse became trash.

I am going to try to avoid buying a console day one again whether it’s from Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. Good things come to those who wait. Price drops, better games, etc. As for this NX, I see no real reason to want to rush out and purchase it. We don’t even know anything about it. And even after we do, it needs to have some killer exclusives to be worth getting.

First Pikmin4 needs to come out on NX and not delayed like Pikmin 3 was then I’ll buy a NX. I perfer Pikmin 5 be immediately worked on right away though. I also hope the game goes back to collecting treasure not just fruit and underground tunnels and wayyyyy more bad creatures. Pikmin 3 had the least creatures out the entire Pikmin franchise.
Projects doesn’t work like that. The team that does a Pikmin game has other franchises to work on. Example: Pikmin 4 is finished and the team starts working on Luigi’s Mansion. This is just an example and that same team does not work on both games. Another example is Pikmin 4 is finished, but most of the team has been moved to help complete Zelda U. It is not a full team working on a game from start to finish. People are moved around based on what they are good at.
Dr. TRE that way sucks. Pikmin 3 was in R&D since 2008 or 2009 and the story is shorter than Pikmin 2. They need to make Pikmin 4 as long and make lots of Balbarbs ladybug Japanese bettles creatures as much as possible. They also need to vome back to life like 3 days later instead of 6 days after your pikmin killed them. Why doesn’t Nintendo think of this while a game is currently in R&D?

Does this survey have anything to do with the fact that Gamestop has stated that they will refuse the sale of any video game system that only offer digital copies of games instead of physical copies? It is my understanding that Gamestop makes more profit on physical copies because of resale! If NX is digital only, then they will have to change their tune, or totally refuse the sale of it entirely!

But GameStop is speculating and with that they add the console to their basic survey to track buyer interest ….

It’s looking more and more likely that the NX will be coming this year. Either an NX handheld, or the main NX console. I hope when Nintendo reveals the official name that it’s not something stupid again, like the Wii and Wii U names was.

For sure, think it is a good, short name and is open for add ons like NX2 etc. while also being sort of a “double name” with it being so close to “NeXt” as others have pointed out.
We’ll see, but also as you say, it has been out so long, the code name, that it almost has its own branding happening and therefore should be kept for the sake of continuity

The day I buy an NX is the day Zelda Wii U comes out as I am assuming they will either make an NX port of it or at least the NX will be BC with Wii U.

The Wii u and it’s game library will be one of the rarest Nintendo consoles to collect given how small the install base is.
That’s why I’ve been collecting for a while now. The rarer games like Pikmin 3 or Wonderful 101 are going to be quite pricy in a couple of years.

Pretty much. Virtual Boy is also one of Nintendo’s rarest consoles but no person in their right mind would say that was not total shit. Wii U is just the Virtual Boy encrusted in gold: both are shit & long term failures but least the shiny shit made a profit (a tiny profit but the fools at Nintendo seem to be happy with mediocrity these days as they’ve forsaken the Holy Seal of Quality just like many Nintendites are also happy with mediocrity) while the old shit is just disgusting.

Gamestop only knows that its gonna be released this year they just wanna know if you will buy it in 2016 or if you are going to wait until like 2017 or something

man I have lot of games I haven’t play yet and yesterday I bought a PS vita very cheap with 5 games. So I guess for me I will have to wait for at least 2 years if not more or until I at least finish the first rounds of game I haven’t play such as st seiya soul’s soldier PS3, then it wii games such as pandora tower, donkey kong country. I still have plenty game to play on the wii like bayonetta 2, wonderful 101, donkey kong tropical freeze.
Then there are games I would like to play again such as final fantasy 6, tactics, dissidia,Zelda skysword and twilight princess (gamecube version) god of war on PSP and PS3, uncharted 1,2, and3 with the PS vita version (hence why I bought the game). I am not even gonna mentioned the games on PC I have and play. So for me I really don’t need the NX. Even with the small wii U library I know I have plenty games I would like to try. Saying that I am not sure if captain toad and Yoshi wolly are worth even trying. I will have too look in to this within my 2 years windows until they become rare and over price.
What other games are you going to get for the vita
I would get a PS Vita for the tons of Japanese games like Senran Kagura, Danganropa, Dragon’s Crown, Final Fantasy X/XI remaster, etc.

I still need to get a lot of games and will have hundreds of games on the vita with physical and digital games combined I have currently 15 to 20 games
When I get a Vita, I want my collection to be all digital.
Then depending on how many games and genres you like you may have to get several 64 gig memory sticks if you plan to get hundreds of vita games
I can’t say for sure how many games I’m gonna get. But I do know that I’m gonna need a lot of space. So I already plan to get a big SD card.

I’m honestly starting to lose my interest in them. I’m more concerned about PC and Playstation games at the moment.
Me too and I’m glad I bought a vita to have a good amount of games in other genres and of course I will get many other systems and games and I can’t wait to see what the nx is going to be like I have a feeling it will underperform
dragon ball : battle of Z, God eater ressurection, god eater 2, god eater 2: rage burst, uncharted, maybe assassin’s creed chronicles trilogy pack, YS: Memories of Celceta, Toukiden – The Age of Demons. that’s on the top of my head. there are lot of games which are not well known and released in Europe. I will have a look and search more. But that will have to wait a bit.

If you have a PS4, I suggest going after Toukiden Kiwami. It added new characters & extended the story a bit. Not sure if it’s available on the PSV but I guess you could try looking for it.
Toukiden Kiwami is Toukiden: The Age of Demons. Only that it’s got a ton of new extra missions. Kiwami is basically an enhanced version of the PS Vita game.
I am aware, Lord Hollow. But that doesn’t mean an enhanced version, or even Kiwami just being an expansion pack/season pass for Age of Demons, couldn’t have been on the PS Vita if Koei Tecmo wanted. KT is just doing what they did with Hyrule Warriors but in reverse.
Yes… I’m going to throw money at something I know absolutely nothing about. I’m sorry, but even on a consumer scale, buying something before you even know what it is you’re buying is incredibly stupid. But hey, the stupid tend to outnumber the intelligent, so at least they’ll help keep Nintendo afloat (not that I think Nintendo is crashing or anything, I love Nintendo (seriously, not being sarcastic here)).
Can’t make a decision without the proper information. I will eventually own whatever the NX is, but not without knowing if Nintendo is going to pull out the hidden cards and give us a flashy and powerful system. Besides, I’m about to get into some major Wii U gaming. Ima be a busy foo!.
