Nintendo game emulator tops iPhone app store charts

An emulator offering access to a plethora of Nintendo games has surged to the top of the iPhone App Store’s free downloads list. The Delta app enables users to relive classics from NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS platforms. This spike in popularity follows Apple’s recent policy change permitting video game emulator apps on its storefront, a move influenced by European pressure for increased openness regarding third-party app stores and emulator use.

Notably, Nintendo has refrained from commenting on the decision, despite its typical stance against piracy. While Nintendo offers a limited selection of classic games through its subscription service, Delta provides access to a broader range, including N64 and Game Boy Advance titles. However, Apple recently removed another emulator app based on existing code, indicating a limit to their support for ‘retro’ consoles. Delta’s inclusion of Nintendo DS, discontinued just a decade ago, pushes the boundaries of Apple’s definition, prompting queries about Nintendo’s stance on the matter.

  1. Thank you so much for your help into spreading this piece of news, Nintendo’s ninjas will appreciate your help.

    1. Switch is a current gen console… That is still having games be made for it…. That is still being sold in stores…. That’s not preservation your just pirating

      1. Long story short: Maybe if Ninty would offer more, better deals for their recent games on a regular basis, some people wouldn’t feel the need to steal. No one wants to really pay 60+ bucks for a game that came out 2-3+ years ago. No matter how great of a game it is.

Long story: BotW is as old as Switch yet never gets any good discount deals. That’s ridiculous. Especially when some feel Tears made the game retroactively worse because Tears was a letdown story wise & had the 2nd weakest version of Ganondorf. (The weakest version is FSA because we never get to actually interact with him; we only hear about him.) To this day, they STILL haven’t surpassed Wind Waker’s Ganondorf. My ranking is WW, OoT, HW, TP, TotK, & FSA. It’s a damn shame, too, because I initially thought TotK would replace WW as my #1 favorite LoZelda.

        1. So for you, if you don’t want to pay for something, you have the right to steal?? That’s the most ridiculous excuse I’ve ever heard… Emulation and piracy are theft and there is no justification for it. Stop pretending to be Robin Hood, fortunately for you players aren’t doomed for that

          1. If Nintendo offers you a shitty overpriced deal that is not even better than the free alternative, yes, except people to emulate your product instead of paying for them, you think about the gameboy and the first thing that comes to mind it’s pokèmon yet on the switch there is no main pokèmon title on sight, cope as much as you want but the majority grew up with pokèmon emerald not… burger time deluxe. It’s really not that hard to launch legacy titles on smartphones sega has been doing it for years and the sonic 1 and 2 android versions are one of the most beloved versions of the game that made many people sonic fans, Nintendo could easily do it too.

          2. I personally don’t pirate stuff, but I don’t entirely fault people that do. There are crimes far worse than stealing/pirating, after all.

Anyway, I’m just explaining why some people do pirate because some things are too expensive, so I’m offering a way for Ninty to cut down on people pirating their current products.

          3. BS, what about playing games you legally own? Most people use these things for nostalgia so almost all the games being played are games that were previously played legitimately. People aren’t going around seeking to play old ass games they have no nostalgic attachment to. These are dead platforms anyway matters, if the game is not for sale no one is losing money other than re-sellers trying to make a profit off of purists or misguided people who think they should not emulate for moral reasons. I don’t feel one bit of guilt playing an old ass game I own on my iphone and if you do you have a problem and if you feel the need to try and police what others are doing your just being a jerk. Emulating games is a perfectly morally acceptable legal right mister perfect who loves to point the finger and try shame people for enjoying their childhood again.

      2. Does switch online have mainline pokèmon titles? No? Oh well guess normies have to go on eBay and buy a gameboy advance and an emerald cartridge to experience it without pirating it, oh and have fun with the gba screen with no backlight, that thing has totally aged well

        1. oh no man don’t worry about i wasn’t talking to you! was talking to Lady_rosalina, and to be honest, now that you mentioned it, we don’t need delta on the eshop, im fine with buying old games for a good price, but MAN do we need pokèmon games in there, game freak is so dumb they will do their absolute best to take down emulation but never rerelease their games, last time they did was the virtual consoles of gen 1 on 3ds

          1. Sorry, I was actually responding to lady_rosalina too but that’s just how the comments look. Next time I’ll put @user
