Shigeru Miyamoto recently had the chance to sit down with revered gaming publication Edge magazine to discuss the eagerly awaited Super Mario which is due for release on the Nintendo 3DS some time later this year.
In the interview Miyamoto explained that the game is a “combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64” and will be a playable game at this years E3 event which takes place in Los Angeles in June.
Shigeru Miyamoto was also quizzed about the inclusion of the tail featured in the logo when it was revealed earlier this year at GDC “The tail you mentioned on the logo – it’s what you think it is. You probably know what’s going to happen using that character.”

although it’s good to hear about this, I’m more eager to hear about the Wii Stream! haha I hope they don’t call it stream…
Can’t be any worse than the iPad name.
That isn’t a tail. That’s Mario’s nose in 3D.
On a more serious note, what elements are there in Mario 64 which weren’t present in Galaxy?
Larger sandbox environments and the hub system (the castle)
Thank you!
Hm, glad to hear some of the N64 elements are coming back. I hope it does mean the return of open worlds again because I loved doing running around in those. I like the A to B points too from Galaxy.
