Resident Evil: Revelations producer Masachika Kawata has told the Official Nintendo Magazine that the game will most certainly appeal to those looking for the traditional Resident Evil experience, rather than the zombie onslaught that gamers should expect to find in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries is due for release in the United States, June 28th and the United Kingdom in July. Which one of the two are you looking forward to the most?
“If all the frantic shooting and timekeeping sounds a little bit too unlike the creeping horror of Resident Evil, Revelations may be more to your tastes.”
“The big difference is that Revelations is a story-focused, exploration adventure that really brings out the traditional atmosphere that Resident Evil has been famous for over the years. We’re really happy about how that’s working out.”
– Masachika Kawata, Capcom
I am definitely looking forward more to a story-driven exploration than a shoot-em-up. I still remember playing RE for the first time on the Gamecube and then later story-driven RE installments. Exploring spooky, expansive environments has far more appeal for me than running around collecting sandtimers so that I can shoot a few more zombies in the extra 30 seconds each one grants me.
With ya on that pal.

I’m excited for both of these Resident Evil Titles.
Mercenaries is obviously a cash-in to kill some time between the major release, Revelations. No comparison between the two.
