Nintendo Wii 2: The Nintendo Wii 2 (Project Cafe) Control Pad Will Feature A Camera

Sources close to industry publication Develop have disclosed that the control pad for the Nintendo Wii will include a front-facing camera system. The source also told Develop that Nintendo isn’t showing off the technology to all its development partners in a bid to make sure that there’s no unexpected leaks before Nintendo’s E3 press conference. The source also confirmed that the controller has a six inch touch screen, “possibly with a stylus”, as well as a standard button layout.

  1. I wouldn’t worry about the price too much. I have faith in Nintendo. They know if the price is out of control then they won’t sell too many. Like always they will probably end up losing on the consoles and try to make it up with game sells, I think at least.

    1. They don’t usually lose on the consoles either (unlike PS f.e.)
They always find a way to deliver cheap material, but good quality

  3. Great. I can’t wait to spend 60 bucks per controller, only to get a couple mario games and maybe a smash bros.

I won’t be getting this at launch.

  4. This is defo gunna be expensive, take 3DS for example, the tech altho is in Nintendos hand with DSi, so hopefully not too ott. Other thing i want to ask is that the above pic, is that official, looks pretty amazing!!!!

  5. Me buying this isn’t going to happen. They are trying way too hard on this one, and there are just too many features it sounds like. Not to mention the costs of everything are going to be ridiculous. It’s sort of reminding me of Atari Jaguar… going to be impossible to program for as well.

  6. This is getting super ridiculous. This controller sounds like the bulkiest, most gimmicky thing ever. I can see it now, in the end 90% of the features will only be used in tacky Nintendo games like Mii Party.

  7. @Jay why are you upset about a $60 price for controller. That’s how much 360 and PS3 controllers cost not to mention how much a wii remote/nunchuk come to.

  8. The source also told Develop that Nintendo isn’t showing off the technology to all its development partners in a bid to make sure that there’s no unexpected leaks before Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

    Well that was a fail.

  9. This is looking awesome but I’m thinking it could also be expensive. So is it like a DS or do we get to use our television. Soo confused. Guess I’ll wait for the official announcement at E3.

  10. A front facing camera? To me that implies one looking away from the player, not at the player? More like the Artificial Reality stuff the 3DS can do.

  11. possibly a stylus THERES NO POSSIBLY ABOUT IT….stylus is a given for a touchscreen just like DS the touchscreen not only a screen but a camera/aim/button control just like wiis remote and DS lower screen multi touch isny suited to gaming stylus offers mouse and 1mm precision

  12. I agree with everyone here – how much is this controller going to cost?

I love what they are trying to do as I have always felt that adding a touch tablet controller to a console would be…not ground breaking but a direction that Nintendo would likely go in with their experience in touch screen controllers.

However, a camera and these add-ons seem that we are going in the $89.99 direction for this controller – which we still do not know will be a HD display or interface.

On a side note, kind of mildly reminds me of what Dreamcast did with their controllers and screened memory cards…

  14. Instead of that you should find a competent and experienced criminal lawyer.

Countless criminal defendants face this dilemma every day.

This involves the ideal to counsel, the appropriate to continue being silent, evidence
beyond a acceptable doubt and double jeopardy.
