Square Enix has announced that it’s hard at work creating a remake of the orginal 1998 Dragon Quest Monsters for the Nintendo 3DS. The game which is titled, Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland 3D, will be coming out sometime next year.

hmmm. i can only name four now, but i can guaruntee there will be more in the future but some remakes im fine with like tales of the abyss, Ocarina (not starfox even though i love the series cause i can get the game on the wii for 10 bucks along with ocarina but i ever actually beat ocarina before until i got it on the 3ds) Never played a dragon quest game though,
also remakes of metal gear solid 3, another one of those jrpgs at tgs, and (hopefully) majoras mask. but after tgs i wonder if the vita will have more remakes

Wow another remake, that makes THREE, and now people will think the 3DS has “TOO MANY REMAKES” stupid people, but I’m glad they are making remakes so games can have the glory they deserved that they didn’t get on the nintendo 64 or anything
there are more than three, but not too many. i like remakes, it gives me a chance to play games i wasnt around for. i played ocarina for the first time on 3ds (and it was EPIC), same as star fox, and cant wait for metal gear solid 3 and monster hunter 3g. really hoping for majoras mask and if they remake sunshine i will have a remake orgasm.
Don’t worry 3DS is not the only effected on to many remakes.
The Movie industry is full of remakes recently. Why can’t someone make something completely new?!
New IPs are seen as risky investments since there’s no guarantee people will buy into them. Older, time-tested favorites are usually beaten into the ground as a result. People will always buy a new Call of Duty game or tickets to a Marvel movie, even if the newest iteration is sub-standard for the series. Much easier to go this route in tough economic times.
No, they’re getting desperate enough to make Battleship a movie.
At this point in time, Video games are MUCH better than today’s movies.

Oh, man…I sunk hundreds of hours into this game when I was a kid. Back then, it was called “Dragon WARRIOR Monsters,” not Dragon QUEST Monsters. :P Either way, I’m excited for this! My best friend and I used to play this together, breeding our most powerful monsters to create super-powerful monsters…ahh, nostalgia. Dragon Warrior Monsters was almost as influential on me as Pokemon was. Dragon Warrior Monsters was the first monster battling game to ever have monster breeding, and it was pretty in depth too. Creating the most powerful monsters through breeding was my favorite thing about that game. Such a innovative feature back then! Still is, really. DWM breeding is way more comprehensive than Pokemon breeding, even to this day. Can’t wait for this game! ^_^
Sounds like fun, I’ve never played it before, so as someone said before me, sounds like a new game to me. I hear the insults of 3ds haters though… “Another REMAKE!!!” So… Yeah. We don’t have that many remakes… Heck, I’m good to have remakes, but not all at once. I would love to see a MM remake, a DK64 remake, a Goldeneye 007 remake would be awesome! (Not seeing it happen though… -_- ) As for a Mario Sunshine, maybe not a remake, but a sequel.
If your gonna keep the remakes coming Nintendo then how about gamecube game remakes? Id love to see pokemon Coloseum and XD on a 3DS =D

WHy are people complaining about remakes,here ill list the games that i know of being ported, feel free to add to the list if i missed a game:
1. Ocarina of time
2. Starfox 64
3. SSIV (am i wrong on this or right?)
4. tales of the abyss (one of my top 3 games im waiting for on the 3ds)
5. MAYBE legend of zelda majora’s mask but hopefully not.
6. dragon quest monsters
7. hmmm… can’t think of any more

Problem is they are the only good games on the 3DS so ask any gamer about good games on the 3DS and they’ll spit off remakes.
I mean I’m getting the vita. Payed and waiting for the release. I’m getting it for games like street fighter x tekken, uncharted GA, bioshock, dust 514, little deviants, etc. Then they announce FFXHD and MGSCHD (note HD graphics on a handheld) they aren’t the reason I’m getting a vita, they are icing on a VERY large cake.

Lol you really don’t know do you? I have prince of Persia HD on my ps3 but I don’t use an HD tv. The game is in HD, playing on a SD tv. Thus it’s HD but not true HD.

Think of it this way: Some of Vita’s “new” games are collections of previous games, with at least two per collection, so for every remake the 3DS has, the Vita has two more. Well, at least the Vita has the 3DS beat in one regard.

Yea they are collections. While I get MGSCHD for 40-50$ (not priced for vita yet but ps3 version is 50$) which has MGS2, MGS3, MGS:PW, MG1, MG2, ape escape:MGS, and a digital download of MGS:PW, you guys can have MGS3 for the same price ;)

Is this any better than Monsters Joker? I hated that one, so definitely not getting Joker 2, but if this one is different, I might bite.
I enjoyed DQM 1 & 2 alot more than Joker…especially 2. Joker was okay…didn’t suck, but wasn’t something I was going to play for hours on end. I will be picking of Joker 2 out of curiosity.
I’d recommend 1 & 2 though. I only played a bit of Caravan Heart…like a couple minutes.
A lot of people don’t seem to like remakes. Guess what, you don’t have to buy them. I never played Star Fox, Tales of the Abyss, this first Dragon Quest, and never finished Metal Gear Solid 3, so this is my chance. Plus, some of those games are appearing on a Nintendo system for the first time. Dead or Alive Dimensions is like a “remake” of all the games in the series put together, and now it’s on a Nintendo system and I love it. Remakes of good games are always good for people that didn’t play the originals, didn’t have the system they were on, or for the new audience. Look at the Internet, thare are movements everywhere from fans ASKING for remakes like Majora’s Mask, Final Fantasy 7, etc. They are asking for these.
