Crytek, the developer behind Crysis, has told GamesIndustry.Biz that the company is extremely happy with the Wii U specifications. Crytek’s Avni Yerli also mentioned that the development team in Nottingham, England have Wii U development kits. Hopefully this means that we will eventually see a new TimeSplitters game for Wii U.

If you were smarter, you’d know that most tech today is about 5 to 6 years old. It’s not because they’re weak, it’s because they just happened to be made a lot earlier and now that time has gone by, they’re more affordable. Age is not an indication of power.

Wtf is up with your pricing? A good Gaming PC is easily $2000+ >_> Hell a really good processor can be like over $400 alone. You can never compare a PC to a console, a PC has way more software/programs to runs expecially when compared to a console. The PS3 ran on “old” hardware when it came out and so will Wii U. Actually if they were the latest tech, then the price would be as much as a cheap laptop or notebook.

The Wii U is more powerful than u think it has a power7 prosesser and runs a openGL that can only be compeared to DX11 witch means when optmized for conceal close to DX12 witch means its more like 8 to 10 times better

To end the fanboyism, xbox 360 Xenos card is equivalent to X1900/X1950. ps3 card is equivalent to 7800/7900GTX.
WII U’s card is going to be a Radeon R700 series card, which is last-gen but still good. its going to support Direct X 10.1 (xbox360/PS3 supports dx9), Shader Model 4.1, OpenGL 3.3 . only thing we dont now is if the card is going to be high-end (4800) or mid-ranged (4600, 4700)

I’m thinking the challenge is getting the controller to work with the game. The streaming along with wireless connectivity, and the most beautifully rendered graphics could be a problem.
I read that the wiiU has the ability to run 4 controllers natively at one time, I think its more about adding to the experience through the controller.
The Wii U was said to only play two wii U controllers at once, but it’s known to be two now.
When Killer freaks from outer space was demoed, 1 person used the Wii U controller and one used the Wii classic controller.
In chase Mii, 4 wii controllers were used and one person used a Wii U controller and sees what he’s/she’s doing.

True, I also heard Microsoft was trying to bring the neXtBOX from 2014 to 2013 in order to compete with the big N. So even then then the won’t have the late tech advantage that Sony will, and then they (Sony) even said they’d go modest with the PS3 as not to incur a loss. I can see Microsoft releasing Windows 8 in late 2012 and the new XBOX in early to mid 2013, since the said Win 8 would have a lot of XBOX and Live connectivity. Plus we all know what happens when MS tries to rush a product.

Apparently it’s using a variation of IBM’s Watson super computer (IBM confirmed this) that is supposedly clocked at 3.5 Ghz. Even if it were clocked at 1.8 Ghz, it would still beat the ps3 and 360 in terms of speed and instructions. Of course, it’ll be a much slower CPU that what’s actually inside Watson because of the price, but that’s still beyond expectations. It’s also reported that it’s using a modified version of the R770 with 1GB of dedicated video memory and supposedly 512MB of system memory. The video card is kind of old, but there must be a reason why they chose that one. Plus, it’ll be a modified version that is rumored to have higher clock speeds than the original one.
So that broken dev kit rumors may have been fake, thats good to here.

This proves the rumors of issues with the controller are fake. Who is surprised? I mean, they did have working units at E3 and people didn’t have trouble with it. Ubisoft also had that Ghost Recon open to the public, and they also showed off Killer Freaks to critics. It was a close doors event, but there’s an official video from that particular event on youtube. It worked fine. Other developers have not complained about since they have been praising it. Even Gearbox said that they had Aliens Colonial Marines engine already running on the Wii U and that they were using higher texture graphics on it and it ran perfectly.
I mean, Nintendo is focusing on the 3DS this year. Have more faith until they start showing the games, people. Just wait a little longer. We’ve waited almost two decades for Kid Icarus’s return; we’ve waited a long time to see our favorite franchises jump into HD, and we’ve waited an agonizing time to finally play Skyward Sword. Everything has its own cycle, and the wait will be over before you know it. Don’t despair.

If third parties, like Crytek (which is part of EA, in case some us didn’t know, I’m sure most of do, but just in case) and others follow this passage Wii-u and PC are the only platforms ill really need i mean, the reason i have a ps3 and a Wii and a pc, is kuz I want to play all my 3rd parties that are not on the Wii (like EA/bioware titles such as mass effect and some of the sports, which look like crap on Wii) but if the Wii-U gets full 3rd party support, then yea its gg, unless MS or Sony use there massive money banks and use it for REAL r&d and make something REALLY cool. (but its has to be extra super cool)
I always get a nintendo console and either a microsoft or a playstation console every year(plus I have a gaming PC). This gen I chose microsoft. Next gen I think I’m also choosing microsoft…
the reason i choose sony is that, except for very select games,(gears, halo3) i can play same xbox games on pc. (arkham asylum, mass effect, elders scrolls and so on)

Sounds pretty good. If they can run the most graphical quality game on the Wii U, and the textures are confirmed to be better than even that, then it is most assuredly good graphics. And even if Xbox 720 or PS4 have better graphics, I could care less! Those graphics on Wii U are good enough, it never needs to be better unless TV’s go higher than 1080p :P

I think it would be better if they would figure out how to use the controller to it’s full innovative capabilities, rather than it’s sheer power and graphical capabilities.
All most of you care about is graphics. Pretty ridiculous. I can’t wait to not only see how Crytek and other developers make use of the graphics, but of the gameplay possibilities as well. I think that’s what he was getting at in the first place. That touch screen can add so much to the game but many people fail to realize that because of ignorance of change. If it was touch screen only or something I would understand, but isn’t. Yeah it looks big but after pretty much everyone who’s used it has said it’s comfortable and you barely notice it, people still bash blindly? Haters gon hate.

Technology advances very quickly. The difference between 2012 – 2014 will be massive. Sony and Microsoft have 2010 tech to compete with, which means they’re either going to make their consoles more powerful, or equal with the Wii U, which also means that because it’ll be 2014, that technology won’t cost them as much, which means Sony and Microsoft might not make a loss on each console sold for a change.
I use my PS3 sometimes and I just laugh because it does things the Wii couldn’t even dream of doing. Transfer a bluray movie from my PC to the PS3, then sort the film in 1 minute increments with a small display of the minute currently selected. The list goes on. The Wii U MIGHT be capable of doing what I just said (depending on how lame Nintendo are). However the PS4 will be one step ahead again.

Yeah, I can see your point. PS3 or XBOX360 is very good at watching movies and that’s the main reason for you to buy a gaming console even though is NOT necessary for gaming. And I thought transfer movie is ILLEGAL at all times. I am all the way to waiting for Wii U to be released and I don’t laugh at other game console just because the gamers can’t do something to VIOLATE the DMCA. Me and myself only concentrate & appreciate a game console that give excellent experience.

What’s possible in 2014 shouldn’t even come into consideration regarding PS4 and Xbox Next. Sony and Microsoft aren’t going to give Nintendo nearly two years on the market as the only next gen console.
It would be financial suicide for Sony and Microsoft to wait that long to launch their own next gen consoles. In my opinion it is highly likely that PS4 and Xbox Next won’t differ considerably from Wii U in over all capability.
In my opinion both the PS4 and Xbox Next are likely to be built around the price range of $349.99 to $399.99 with breaking even or making a profit being preferred to having a loss per unit. When you factor in the costs of an internal hard drive, motion controllers, and standard controllers under this scenario there isn’t a whole lot left over to up the specs in regards to Wii U.
