Nintendo President Says Kid Icarus Uprising Reminds Him Of Smash Bros Brawl

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that Kid Icarus: Uprising’s battle mode provokes fond memories of Smash Bros Brawl in terms of richness, volume and all-out chaos. Kid Icarus: Uprising is due for release March 23rd in North America and Europe.

“I was able to play the final version before this interview, and its richness, and an unparalleled sense of volume really came across, just like when I played Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the first time.

“When I saw the battle mode, one of the things I thought was that this was how the Super Smash Bros. games would look like in 3D. In many ways, like the fast pace, for example.”

      1. And since u will all c this i want to say, it is wonderful to share the loving fellowship of this nintendo brotherhood dureing these triumphant times. May the way of truth light our paths. Now onward! With more comments!

  1. Iwata’s comments worry me a little…

His mind has been on a new Smash Brothers since before started making this game.
I hope he made Kid Icarus with a clear mind, and hasnt implemented SSBB-style character moves here just for the sake of it… Because it could make the gameplay feel a bit “wrong” if you understand what i mean?

Save all the OTT moves for Smash Brothers please, Iwata-san!

  2. “how the Super Smash Bros. games would look like in 3D” Oh shit Satoru Iwata is on to something :D get ready for new smash bros gameplay

    1. Did you know that SSB Melee was originally 3D?

True story Gamecube was a 3D console but nintendo said it’s to expensive.

  3. It’s funny, because I was thinking the same thing when I saw the videos of Kid Icarus: Uprising. It does remind me some of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And now that Sakurai is working on the Super Smash Bros. games for 3DS and Wii U, I just cannot wait until he and Sora Ltd. are done!

    1. I liked the Subspace Emissary, it was pretty cool having all the characters working together. It was also real easy unlocking everyone XD

  4. Smart move, Iwata, likening the depth of this game’s multiplayer to Smash Bros. (in general, since he doesn’t just say Brawl). Couldn’t think of a better advertisement. Well, maybe the recent trailer.

    1. No he saying it reminds him of it not that the next smash will have it. Also it can be a mode just like what
SSFIV 3D has 3D versus and versus.

  5. Yeah my thoughts exactly when I saw the video. Sakurai is just great at making multiplayer mayhem that’s fun for everyone. Kid Icarus: Uprising and the next Super Smash Bros. can’t come soon enough.

  6. I just have to say this, but this game is more like Gundam vs Gundam if anything (and nothing like Smash Bros).

Gundam vs Gundam uses a points system (as this does for the different weapon types)
Gundam vs Gundam has a meter (or total points) that goes down every time someone dies
Gundam vs Gundam is team based (except 2v2 rather than 3v3)
Gundam vs Gundam is a 3D fighting game
