Sega has released the first footage of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Sega announced the game earlier today for Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Sega announced a few of the characters that will be made available which include Dr. Eggman and AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball games, Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe and Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. It’s also rumoured that Vectorman and Ristar will make an appearance. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is coming later this year.

What’s up with the “All-Stars” theme lately? In 2010, it was all about the word “Epic.”
Anyways, I was excited for it, but now that excitement if going away. I wanted to have the 3 types of vehicles, but from the gamepay video, it seems the vehicles will change on their own. I wanted to choose one vehicle for the entire race and not be forced to change them automatically. I guess I’ll have to wait and hope for Nintendo to make a new Diddy Kong Racing.
You wanted to be able to choose a boat for a mostly land based track? Or a car in a track with lots of water? This way is more logical.
If the tracks are made up by water, then having just the boat would work. Otherwise, normal tracks can be had with different shortcuts. If you’ve played Diddy Kong Racing, you would know what I’m talking about. It creates a level of strategy having only 1 vehicle per race. The hover boat was difficult to manipulate on land, yet it was crazy fast and agile if used right. The plane can make you go faster or slower depending how you use it, and the car was the standard go-to vehicle. There were shortcuts all over the place for the 3 vehicles, and only a couple of them were designed only for one vehicle type.
I myself never played Diddy Kong Racing, unfortunately, but I know what you’re talking about. I just feel that this way allows for more variety in the stages, also I have a soft spot for transformation sequences.
This whole boat and airplane thing does sound a lot like Diddy Kong Racing…
And for anyone who is worried about it not coming to the Wii, I point to the Wii U.
Latest installment of Sega’s attempt to make a good video game… Includes everything kids are into today, auto-transforming vehicles, a huge collection of characters that everyone knows and loves, and of course Dubstep….. MK7 did ‘transforming’ vehicles better, nobody cares about half of Sega’s characters, and lolz dubstep

Characters from Phantasy Star, Ryu ga Gotoku (Yakuza), Bayonetta, Valkyria Chronicles and mabye even Miku Hatsune (cause SEGA did the PSP Vocaloid games)… put them in there and it’s going to be the best racing game ever!!
1. Sonic should perhaps just be Super Sonic- solves everything because he can “glide” above the water.
2. Knuckles should be standing near the finish line just to obliterate the racers.

I will buy it, but it’s not what I hoped for. I want the tracks to be classic and instantly recognisable Sega locales. I’m sure there will be some but this trailer suggests they aren’t the focus.
