Sterne Agee’s Arvind Bhatia has been questioning publishers on the E3 show floor to find out what they are most excited for. The majority that Bhatia questioned were more excited about the potential of the next Xbox and the PlayStation 4, than they are about Nintendo’s next console, Wii U.

Just so you know, you can’t get better graphics. The max resolution for tvs is 1080p. Nintendo already confirmed that the Wii U supports 1080p. One other thing to note is most people have tvs that only support 720p or 1080i, not 1080p.

Sony has lost a lot of money and only began to make a profit off of the PS3 in recent years AND the PS3 is their lowest selling system so far because of how expensive they made it. That’s their opinion and it’s fine and acceptable, but what I want to know is why thy are more excited? Like what do the next consoles offer? They probably won’t come out until 2015 or something anyway. I think after the Wii U, which even though I’m getting one definitely I don’t think will sell terribly great, Nintendo ought to take like an 8 year break like the other 2 do so that they are in line with them technologically.
Nintendo does need to take a break, but at the same time i don’t think they do. I think they are right on with the technology for now, Microsoft and Sony are keeping their eye on the 3D TV market that is probably why they are waiting on their new systems.

If you want to understand more search in youtube for a video of the ps3 graphics at launch, they showed a fucking ugly video and people laugh!!! But look graphics now! Graphics are decided by the engine.
Don’t forget it can run without using the screen controller too. That’ll probably leave it plenty of processing power to go 1080p. I’m sure they also are just using this time now to break in the system. Later games will easily be native 1080p, I’m sure. Games look better as the system ages. Besides, having enough power to stream 3 hd asymmetric screens at the same time is amazing. Plus, third party support will suck early on. They wanna make a profit, so they will wait until the system has an install base first. The fact that it has this much in the launch window is amazing. Once the other systems are out, this one will already have a huge install base and it’ll be the main next gen console with all the third party support. That’ll probably balance out after a year or 2, but still, Nintendo has the advantage here. If you wait, you’ll see just how great this will be

I think Unreal Engine 3.5 could run on the Wii U and square’s new engine MIGHT run on the system but who knows.

Sell cheap hardware – and try to make up for it with imaginative software. The only flaw here is that the imagination factor is running out. We’re getting more gimmicks and tech demos. We aren’t getting artful masterpieces like we did in the Gamecube days. Trust me, I fucking LOVED my Gamecube.

Powerful didn’t mean a thing when their consoles were crippled in other key areas.
Gamecube had shitty mini-discs that barely held data and N64 stuck with clunky cartridges. Amongst other things.
the mini discs held about the same amount of memory as the discs for the xbox and playstation 2. and the n64 had cartridges because thats what they did. the playstation was the first console to ever have cd’s (excluding the cd-i ofcourse) seriously, the wii was the first console they ever had that wasn’t as powerful as the competition.

Sony can’t do that off of a fourth year big loss. They’re gonna have maybe a $500 system. No more than that. Xbox, well that’s another story. You’re gonna be basically buying 2 at once with kinect 2.0, so yeah, that price sounds about right. I’d even buy a Wii u for $350 or maybe $400. So I think this is good. This is a console, not a gaming pc. I’ll take the 300 purchase and be happily on my way

I can understand why the publishers can ‘seem interested’ as many have said, it’s probably because now we’ve seen the Wii U (if the console – not the Game Pad – is indeed the final version [I know that it’s been said that it is, but anything can happen between now & the release] – I know it may be wishful thinking lol).
In all honestly, even though the Wii U has been shown worldwide now and I’m sure that there will be arguments against what I say, but there are two sides to the story of a new release, whether it be a home or portable console. It’s been proven with the 3DS & the Vita that you can’t have it both ways. The Vita was released with quite a few strong games but are now struggling with the lack of games and with the 3DS, Nintendo announced quite a few games games that they were planning from the console in the long run, there were complaints about that too, if I remember correctly (most were about the price, sure, but I’m focusing more on the games here). Nintendo probably learnt from that mistake & only decided to announce games that they say should be out on launch or the following three/four months. Publishers & gamers alike cannot have it two ways, as I said before – I’m sure I’ve missed out mention some stuff, but I’ve said enough lol
I say give it time, in the long run, I think it will work out.
We don’t know anything about the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 8/720 yet. Besides, the Xbox 8 might focus on casual gamers and the Playstation 4 was confirmed to not be much of an upgrade from the PS3. Thus, there should be little to no excitement for the PS4 and for the Xbox 8, who knows? Maybe it’ll be like the Wii and try to gain the Wii’s audience.
They’re only saying this because Nintendo’s conference was so bad. Obviously they’re not literally interested in the PS4/720 consoles, but when you’re faced with an underwhelming conference like Nintendo’s, suddenly every other alternative, even the imaginary kind, seems like the best idea in the world.

They should be excited for the Wii U right now, because they can port games that they currently have in development. That way, they can work with stronger system specs and capture the Nintendo audience as well.
Sony and Microsoft claim they don’t plan on next systems anytime soon. Perhaps in the end, Nintendo is willing to put their asses on the line to enhance the gaming experience, while other developers are so worried about development costs. Their the McDonalds of gaming. Thank goodness for Ubisoft, I’m really happy about their initiative.
It seems that after Nintendo does something innovative, Sony and Microsoft have to get off their butts and copy it. Nintendo Wii -> Playstation Move. Nintendo Wii U -> Microsoft SmartGlass. Developers should be excited for the Wii U; it’s the only new console for another year or two, and it really changes how you play the game. I don’t understand why they care about something that hasn’t even been announced. The Orbis and Durango are going to be great, I’m sure, but how powerful can a console get before its too expensive? Sony has said that they’re not first, but the best. They agreed that it wont be cheap. It’s going to be powerful, and amazing, but the only improvements are internal, and cosmetic. They don’t really change gameplay. The Playstation controller has stayed almost exactly the same since the very beginning, an the Xbox controller is the same, too. Nintendo, on the other hand, has changed and evolved throughout theirs seven amazing consoles (amazing, except for the virtual boy…)

they are waiting in the land of its better on the other side, with the mantra of I hate Nintendo producing from their mouths. to be honest they don’t know much about what Sony or Xbox has and what has been said by Sony is there is not much of an increase in graphic out put in the next generation console they are producing. so I think what these reporters are saying is more speculation because they like Sony or Microsoft’s consoles and has nothing to do with facts
