Despite some claiming that all three major video game publishers’ E3 presentations were underwhelming, Sony thinks that their E3 performance was amazing. Jack Buser, the Senior Director of PlayStation Digital Platforms, was recently interviewed by VentureBeat.
Buser believes that Sony is the only console-maker that puts gamers first, above everyone else. He thinks that Nintendo and Microsoft focus too much on appealing to all audiences, while Sony focuses on the gamer “first and foremost.”
“I think we’ve had a fantastic E3, I’ve watched all of our competitors very closely. And I think we did a very good job of drawing a solid line in the sand here at E3, and standing up with our back straight as PlayStation and saying, we’re for gamers. We are for the gamer first and foremost. Everything we do at PlayStation, we ask ourselves first, what’s right for the gamer? And at our press conference, we really stood up and put both our hands in the air and said, look, we are for gamers first and foremost.”

Maybe by their ps3 users but not from the vita users since it barely got mentioned at e3. If sony wants the vita to succeed they should have given it some spotlight and announced a lot games for it instead of casting it aside.

I agree with him. Nintendo and Microsoft (namely the latter) focused WAY to much time on hardware and not any actual games.
If you ask me, Nintendo didn’t spend enough time with the hardware this year. We wanted to know the specs of the Wii U but didn’t get told anything (apart from the ability to handle 2 gamepads).

This was the weakest E3 I’ve seen in ages. And Sony’s conference just barely managed to knock Microsoft out of the position of worst possible, if only because of that 15 minute Wonderbook presentation.

This was the worst E3 in years, and Sony just barely manage to win over M$, but still nintendo with pikmin 3 was the best of the worst in this one…

Well, he’s right actually. If we take in consideration that they had no new system or something to show off, they did surprisingly good. They at least kinda made something out of it, unlike Nintendo. Nintendo had the perfect chance to show off how and why the WiiU is something special, how it will offer “hardcore” games (which was promised by Nintendo but unfortunately not much of it could be seen at E3…) and how it is significantly better than the current systems. But they failed miserably in doing so. They had a brand new system to show off but they couldn’t even manage to do better than Sony, who had nothing but games to show. As I mentioned earlier, I’m really disappointed by Nintendo. And I do think that Sony did good.
Those are my thoughts about the whole issue, at least.
Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft disappointed me equally. The only good performance is Ubisoft’s.

Why do people act like Nintendo made all those 101 in 1 minigame type games, sure they had some but not too many. It was other companies who made most of those shovelware games, but I guess its just easier to place the blame on Nintendo.

I will say they had a solid presentation. Sure there wasn’t much said about Vita titles, and the Wonderbook was a thing, but it was certainly among the stronger showings at this year’s expo. Didn’t garner more excitement than Ubisoft’s conference, but I don’t regret watching it in the slightest.

I can pretty much guarantee everyone is saying something negative. But Sony’s was by far the best. Though I agree at the lack of Vita software, Nintendo failed to show much for the 3DS or anything about their new console.
I think this article proves that, despite their focus on Move, Sony doesn’t see the average American family as actual gamers.
