Dusk Golem: Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake is heading much stronger in horror direction

Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has shared a little more about what he has heard recently about the rumoured Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake over at Capcom. Golem says that the team is fully embracing horror and is pushing the remake to go further in that direction. He says that of course there will be plenty of action sequences but they want it to retain a dark horror-style atmosphere.

“I don’t really think they are at this point. Code Veronica Remake is going in a much stronger horror direction than the original CV (still has silly stuff & action stuff, but the horror aspect is increased in the Remake), & all of Capcom’s data tells them that horror is constantly the most successful, well liked, & stand out moments for players. Capcom is a very data based company, & every data point for them shows that they should embrace horror more. RE9 was a project long in development that changed form multiple times & wanted to try capture every RE game in different sections, give shades of the whole franchise. It has shades of literally every RE game in it, including RE6, but also RE1, RE0, RE2, RE3, RE4, RE7, etc. But I think they’ll go back-and-forth on trying to find the horror-action balance.”

  1. Sure it will be scary or horror filled for the first 30 minutes than prepare for nothing but action and speed running tactics for the rest of the game. There’s nothing scary about these games anymore except for the rewrites that are incoming.
